Our Story:
We are Carissa, Iwan & Frankie the sausage dog, and in 2020 decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month we were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call home. We picked up Albi, Joao and Simao the cats along the way, as well as Diogo the podengo and a flock of chickens.

So happy to have stumbled on your channel on a gloomy day - despairing the world is a horrible place. In the US, a group of young people, your age - greedy, unethical and lacking in any connection to the real world - charged with stealing $9-billion dollars, with one convicted. To see you and your partner working so hard - good, honest work - lightens my heart. I think the world will be okay if there are more of you around. Thanks for lightening the heart of this old lady!

So satisfying to watch this young couple hard at work making their lives. I watched Frankie and some of the cats just lazing around, thinking they are just enjoying watching this happen without having to lift a finger and then I realized that’s what I’m doing. Very satisfying to watch.

What a lot of work you put in to edit these two episodes. Well done and good on you. It is hard work but so rewarding when you achieve a finished project My late husband worked his backside off so I relate to all you do. We were in France as have mentioned before but a lot older than you I’m sorry to say but it is as it is and no regrets only that word hindsight creeps in quite a lot😮😬 You both look incredibly healthy and your family of animals so happy and content. I really love the way you weave them in and out with your camera. You have no idea of the joy you bring an elderly lady sitting in front of the tv screen every time your video appears. I love the nesting doggies and kitties, they really seem to love each other while they feel safe in your care, so beautiful to see. Your video compilation is so peaceful and wonderful to see, I do feel a bit guilty though feeling relaxed while you toil away. I do appreciate the work ethic and willingness to continue while you are learning so many new trades, thank goodness for Nick and others who have taught both of you so many new things to get yourselves a functioning kitchen. How could you possibly know that? 😅 You don’t know where we live let alone the history of the building 🤣 I think your courage induces more admiration.. to suggest we’re living illegally when you’ve not the foggiest idea.. tip for you.. just because you think something.. it doesn’t make it correct 😉 the building used to be a 2 storey family home used by a family of Millers 70 years ago. Great work guys. I have been researching log splitting axes/mauls and discovered that the ideal log splitting mail is about 6kb/3kg with a good long handle and does not need to be sharpened . Apparently the splitting happens as a result of the speed of the blade head striking the wood and the lighter head means more speed!

Just found your Journey and seen the two episodes. What an amazing achievement to have turned the abandoned place into a working project that now keeps you warm, dry, cool as well as providing food. I can guess the delicious taste of the watermelon and the large sweet potatoes. Fantastic to have helpful family and Nick to provide skills, encouragement and friendship. you can eliminate all the crawly bugs in your immediate living area by putting sugarwater and a little borax in a spray bottle and generously spraying and let dry only bad for bugs

Amazing videos, wish I’d done this when I was younger and fitter. When you chop wood put it on a solid base, on the tires and pallet you will get bounce which kills the momentum of the axe, and is wasted energy. Hats off to the pair of you though

You can use the cut log as a decorative on your pavement and put a ots of ornament on the top to make them useful, have a blessed new year

Hmmm tiling, I gave up doing this myself 20 years ago after watching a group of cheerful old Italian tilers up in Cape York tiling without measuring anything at a ridiculous speed. Keep up the great work it has been great watching the time-lapse.
