Frank, this was a massive help, I've been struggling with removing supports and the support density has helped me no end, yesterday eas the first time I printed with a raft and used the support density that you described and the supports came of sooooooo easy and didn't leave a massive mess. Thank you

Another strategy for preserving fine details at the bottom of a model is to turn off the "Automatically drop models to the build plate" setting (Preferences > Configure Cura> General) and raising the model a millimeter or two off the build plate so that everything at the bottom is on supports regardless of orientation. Z-clearance permitting you may also be able to print more vertically, potentially reducing print time and support material. In some cases, though, doing so may just raise some features that require support, like the eyes on the mask at the beginning, making for taller supports without really reducing material used. It's also a good idea to keep *some* tilt for tall prints to make sure they don't topple over before they finish. So it may not always be the best option, but it's shaved between 30 minutes and 1 1/2 hours off of a few prints for me.

On my first 3D printed prop, a scorpion mask, I wanted to save some time, because it was my first prop and I didn't know Prince usually took so much time. I positioned it forward, and all of the cracks and crevices were just filled with support material it took blood sweat and tears to get that all out, and I learned a valuable lesson lol

Just looking at the data, making just a few adjustments I can save %10 time, but up to %30 filament. Thanks for the tips. My first print of the Iron Man helmet waas a disaster, but one that you can look and and learn from (which you've mentioned on other videos) I did order an extender kit for my 3D printer to take it to 400x400 so piecing and welding should be eliminated.

What about nozzle size and print quality, I bought one model, rocketeer helmet that in the description says to print with a .8 nozzle, Im using the standard .4 as I don't want to change to a larger nozzle, I know that will increase print time but do I then max out my print quality to .4 or leave it at .15 or .2? Besides lowering support density, you can also switch the support fill to concentric, and usually save a lot of plastic by dialing in just enough space between the lines to minimize the time spent building support.
