Abstract:
In this masterclass, Professor Helmerson gives some interesting tips to work on Brahms’ second sonata, e.g., the idea of showing that something new is coming, the concentration of the energy, different bow strokes in several moments -bariolage, flageolet…-, the attention to the length of a note -a string player should know the moment to stop the note (or the bow)-, flexibility in phrasing, the concentration in each movement of the arm and the need to feel what the pianist does.
