František Krommer (Czech: František Vincenc Kramář; 27 November 1759 in Kamenice u Jihlavy - 8 January 1831 in Vienna) was a Czech composer of classical music, whose 71-year life span began half a year after the death of George Frideric Handel and ended nearly four years after that of Ludwig van Beethoven.

Not exactly. Obviosly his influence is merely claasical, but he was born in 1759, Bach's death marked the barroque's end in 1750. So he was born in the very beginning of Classicism

@@Asteria-ny2ki actually they are not counted. Even if they died in around 1760-1769, that does not mean they are counted. They are not counted because they are not the greatest composers to ever lived, unlike Bach, even if they are actually popular and two of the greatest composers which are not popular enough. Bach was counted because most people know him more, and a surprising fact that Handel wasn't counted because he was, I believe, less popular than Bach. Because everyone knows Bach very well, I believe this is the reason why he is counted.

@@Asteria-ny2ki Not only that, because Bach was an important figure in Baroque music (I believe everyone knows about this), so this is the reason why his death marked as the end of Baroque music, while others' deaths times are quite neglected by Biographers to be counted as the end of Baroque Music

Gran compositor de Bohemia. No todo en el clasicismo eran los genios de Mozart o Haydn, había otros grandes compositores que sin tener el genio de los dos austriacos, deben ser admirados también.

It is so interesting to see how geniuses like Mozart and Beethoven opened up new possibilities and how much of that can be used or copied by other composers and how much remains out of reach for next generations. A chord progression can be copied but its organic embedding is a lot harder, and the poetic and psychological characteristics remain unattainable.

This is a beatiful clarinet concerto, and it is played very well by David Glazer et al. I was a clarinetist, and I think this concerto is a better piece than some that are played quite frequently. NOTE: We are not suggesting that the Mozart concerto is played too much!

What a nonsense comment. Krommer is one of the standards in the literature. How much solo clarinet repertoire have you even listened to? Besides Mozart and Krommer, there is Spohr, Weber, Stamitz, Danzi, Rossini, and others. Later there is Brahms, Reger, Saint Saens, and Debussy, not to mention the composers in the 20th Century such as Hindemith, Milhaud, and Poulenc. But I guess if even Krommer is called "schlocky" to you, I would suppose that you would turn a blind eye to the others in the Classical and Romantic eras that aren't Mozart.

@@lanc2776 The majority of clarinet repertoire is not good, that's why it's seldom performed. I'm not going to go into details, but the Krommer is NOT A GOOD PIECE of music. If you don't understand why, you need help.
