Dear Friends,
The Year 2021 nearly comes to an end. First of all, Thank you so much for your support, really really appreciate it! Huge thanks to all of you for making this possible, the support, the feedback, the trips, and the information! Thank you so much!
With this video, we want to rewind our highlights of the year 2021. In the first of two videos, we also want to show you some footage that we have not published yet as a Kalitta 747-400F with the Mask Livery and one of four active DC-8s that has been diverted to STR.
Kalitta 747-400F with the "Mask Livery":
Kalitta supports the corona measures, a great idea made by Kalitta Air. The aircraft is constantly in use and is flying all across the globe. At the moment she is based in SFO and from there on she is often flying to Asia, North America, and Europe. Sometimes the Kalitta 747’s are chartered by the United States Military and help out flying military cargo and troops to their destination. Often the Kalitta charters fly via the United States Air Force Bases in Europe.

Samaritan’s Purse DC-8:
While the United States Air Force flew all the military stuff and planes out of Afghanistan, at the Samaritan’s Purse DC-8 helped out to bring back personnel, of women activists houses that supported Afghan women and schools for the past 20 years. On that day, her actual routing was XJD-PIK-GSO but because of the bad weather and not enough fuel to circle at PIK, the crew decided to stop via Germany. Stop like Ramstein, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Stuttgart were possible airports for a stop. Over the alps, the crew decided to fly via STR, because of the good connections to the US in the Barracks close to Stuttgart and the US Army/Air Force airfield. She did a night stop and continued her way to GSO the next day. Also listed are many cargo and passenger flights via Ramstein with the Israeli Air Force 707-3L6C Re’em that arrived from Nevatim Air Base and other flights due to the Operation Allied Refuge! Also, some cargo flights went via Frankfurt to pick up Oxygen and other stuff for example the Indian Air Force C-17.

The way I see it is...if the airplane is in excellent flying condition, then use it! Not for top military and pax usage. But if let's say an Air Force has chosen any older plane for a duty in which they feel that that particular older plane will perform well..then by all means use it!! It gives the plane a new lease on life, and it saves millions of $$$$ not having to have new planes built.

@@patrickmollohan3082 but there is something called (the design life), if it ended then the plane is forbidden to land at most of the airports, and many countries won't allow it to fly over there airspace. And extending/updating the design life costs lots of $$€€!!!

The DC-8 looks so right! And with the high bypass engines it looks even better. The A340 looks very good in the same vein as the DC-8. BTW my first transatlantic flight was an AC DC-8 stretch from LHR-SNN-YUL

In 1971, I believe I flew in DC-8 stretch from McChord AFB, WA to Kimpo AFB, South Korea. We had stop-overs at Anchorage, AK and Yokota AFB, Japan. In 1972, I returned to the US on Seaboard World Airlines and my guess it was a Boeing 707.

I fell in love with the DC8 72CF. An 128 with vibrant colors and blue helices is a charm! And the magnificent MD11 that owns my heart! This is not just a video, it should be kept as a unique record of the history of the wonderful and incredible planes that made aviation history!

My father worked on many DC-8's, including several occasions BOTH the Samaritan's Purse and the NASA DC-8, as a mechanic for almost 20 years, so even though he loves the 747 his favorite aircraft has always been the DC-8. I doubt there's many people left in the world outside of former Douglas engineers and designers that know the ins and outs of those aircraft like my dad does, he obviously loves all things aviation but he could talk about almost any conceivable component or system or quirk of the DC-8 for hours if you get him started. It's a very special plane to him and therefore it's a very special plane to me, so it puts a big smile on my face to still see a couple of those aircraft in continued service.

Isn't it amazing that WE, airplanes nuts, get along with each other no matter where we are from? Watching a video like this is therapy. We all, including myself, never thought 1 second about Omicron while we were glued to the screen. What a clear crisp production . It made my day, and thanks to all those involved. A KLM DC-8 brought me to Canada, when engines still smoked. Greetings from YVR

Spectacular shots of gorgeous planes. Especially striking was the Antonov landing with its little blades turning while the huge wind turbines blades were in the background!

In my opinion this is the most advance plane spotting channel on the platform. A shot from the runway end during flare is extremely enjoyable, I think every spotter should do more of that...close up shot is great and takes a great amount of skills, however a steady fixed camera shot during approach and landing is also exciting to see, we can observe the movement and attitude from every aircraft towards the runway, instead of just emphasizing the shot on every aircraft from up close, which makes the aircraft looks floating motionless.

That’s one of the most interesting aviation videos I’ve seen. Because of the tracking effect, I thought it was a FSX video when I watched that first Kalitta arrival. Didn’t look real. Beautiful cinematography!.
