As a professional baker, I can confidently say that this knife is all wrong for slicing bread. A serrated knife is the perfect tool to cutting up delicious bread. That smashed up slice was a baker's nightmare. Lol! 😂

I've had mine for 3 years & absolutely love it. Still sharp & it also gives you fulcrum/mechanical advantage so I feel it takes less effort, even with frozen produce so it might help those with arthritis. Perfect for chopping small quantities for a smoothie/single serving snack etc & saves CLEANUP TIME!!! I also cut up veggies still in it's bag so it doesn't make a mess, especially broccoli. This is not meant as some ultimate kitchen gadget like in The Honeymooners; it cannot core a apple but it does slice cold hard butter into wafer-thin slices for easy spreading on toast. It's all about size of job, like in gardening you don't need a chainsaw when a handheld pruner is all you need. Inverse is true when you need to cut a tree limb. We have Wusthof knives & 5 different cutting boards for big jobs but a tiny kitchen so this is very convenient. Another major plus: it has a hole in the blade so I hang it on a hook for quick access. I've only cut myself twice with this but only while cleaning it, so now I ALWAYS use a brush, not a sponge.

I love and use mine almost daily. Have had it for about 3 years and it is still nice and sharp. And, you can cut just as much of your item (carrot , celery or whatever) as you would with a knife. I find it easier to use than a knife. The only things I don`t use it for that you used it for are tomatoes and bread.

I love kitchen do-dads and I was almost sold on this until I realized how much of the food couldn't be cut in order to avoid cutting your fingers. Wouldn't you have to use a knife and a cutting board anyway so the rest of the carrot, celery, cheese, apple, etc. isn't wasted? I thought your video was great.

Good points, Tonia, and thanks for the compliment! I do use this regularly for cutting cheese, and sometimes carrots. You're right that the last bit of food is often too awkward to cut with this.

You seem to reference actions happening in the commercial but if we haven't seen the commercial we have to go and look for it. I saw one on TV last year before Christmas. While in Wal-Mart I picked one up. WOW ! I love it. It is what it is. if you try to cut bread use a bread knife. I used to put the vegetables on the cutting board over the sink and use a long knife. With the Clever cutter... It's just snap, snap, snap. Actually what I do is cut the carrots in 1/3rs and put the 3rds in my Salad Chef with the big quare blades. Snap, Snap, Snap and slap down on the salad chef and all the vegetables fall into the big plastic salad chef bowl ! I then can put all the vegetables in my Power Pressure Cooker along with cubed pork steak for 40 minutes with two cans of cream of mushroom soup and it's fork tender. Boy does it taste good !

Can you cut more than 1 layer of precut potatoes. Also what about apples cut into wedges. Can you do this review again?

i wouldnt use this to slice bread but it works great to cut slice of bread in half... like if you have a larger slice than will fit in your toaster or want to take the crusts off... also on mine there is a little post molded into the plastic piece that locks the handle which prevents the tab from going back far enough to block the handle... maybe it was added or maybe yours broke off. pretty cool product !

my main issue with it that it only does one thing, which is to chop. No dicing, slicing, and other things a regular knife and cutting board can do. I mean, sure, you can say it works, but personally, if you need something that's similar, the nicer dicer is a better thing IMO

Thanks for sharing this review. I have been using a good sharp pair of scissors in the kitchen for years. I thought everyone did until I grabbed them to cut pizza when I had company. The looks of shock and awe were quite surprising. Lol. If you want a great pair of scissors for the kitchen head to a place like JoAnn's Fabric or a craft store. You can find extremely well made, sharp scissors with great warranties. I've had the same pair for 20 years. 10 bucks, twenty years...it has paid for itself. I think you'd probably have to shell out 20 now.

Great review of the points covered but you should do an additional review of how well it sharpens, how wel it cuts the end of the vegetable, etc. In any case, since I mostly chop my vegs rather than slice them, the product is of no use to me as a substitute for a cutting board and knife. Alas.

I got a brand new one with some excellent knives I bought in a yard sale. It is as close to useless as a kitchen tool can get. It will chop long veggies carrots, celery and parsnips but not much else. The problem is carrots often have a large end that needs to be quartered to have nice equal sized pieces. I want to toss it but my wife is a hoarder so it just takes up space in our kitchen.

Every week I set aside 2 hours to cut all my veggies and grate cheese for the week. Naturally I perked when I saw this commercial, but I think my old knives are doing just fine the more I look up this product. I got the heeby-jeebies just watching you cut the tomatoes. D: It also seems like it offers less control on the size of the cut pieces. Yep...I'm fine with what I have. First world problems.

Hah yeah it definitely can't replace a set of knives. I use it almost exclusively to cut cheese.

It could never work for bread. The tried and true way to cut a perfect slice is to turn your loaf upside down then cut using a serrated knife. This works because bread is much firmer on the bottom so when you cut it won’t compress quite as much.

I think it did poorly on the tomatoes. A lot of the seeds were squished out. Seems it does really well on things that are firm all the way through, but if it's soft in the middle, it it gives before the blade can cut.

I just bought this product last week and it works as advertised. I is very sharp and I don't recommend this for kids or teenagers. There is no safety mechanism to protect fingers. I recommend it for adults only!

Thus product is actually a great idea but it would certainly depend on the quality of the construction and blade.

with bread your not supposed to use a regular non serrated knife that’s why they make “bread knives”
