Fred is not excited at all about the wedding, and until the very last minute, he tries to change Lamont's mind.
From Season 1 Episode 3, 'Here Comes the Bride, There Goes the Bride'. Lamont is excited about his upcoming wedding, but on the big day he quickly finds himself the only one who is. The bride dumps him at the altar, and his relatives beg to get back their wedding gifts.

About Sanford And Son: The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. To prevent his son from leaving home, and bent on having things his own way in general, Fred often calls upon such ruses as fake heart attacks or phony back ailments. I don't see how Fred and Lamont keep their composure from laughing. I would say live comedy would be not easy. I never get bored watching Sanford and Son! 50yrs. Still watching them. The whole cast is amazing talent hands down.

I love Sanford and son but Lamont was a hot mess. He was so intent on marrying some random goofy chicken head girl but never wanted to settle down with legitimate serious ones who had more than him like Janet or the girl who was trying to marry him who cooked for Grady. Lamont is a him who's values were always messed up.
