ABOUT SANFORD AND SON: The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. To prevent his son from leaving home, and bent on having things his own way in general, Fred often calls upon such ruses as fake heart attacks or phony back ailments. Lamont usually sees through these subterfuges, but because he loves his father, he lets him think he's getting his way.

@@richiec.7637 Yeah, the party with the cake thrown out and hitting Aunt Hazel. That was classic. I didn't say this scene in the video was my favorite and most memorable scene. Just one of many. One of my other favorites was when Aunt Esther and her crew of church ladies threw out the gangsters who were trying to use Fred's place for a speakeasy. 😊

@@richiec.7637 I agree. I just thought of another one with Grady, Lamont and Cousin Emma. Fred was not in this one. Cousin Emma came to freeload and kept coming down the steps "walking crooked" because of her arthritis. But she kept promising a "nice breakfast" which she never made. Glad to find another S&S fan. 😊

@@rozchristopherson648 Yes, a classic. And she'd describe all what she was going to make. I had a friend who died relatively young (37) and he LOVED that episode. And Grady gave up Lamont's bedroom for her. A lot of those episodes with just Grady are classics.

He Seemed Like A Peacemaker. That's Why I Like Him & Not The Mother. He Did Try To Talk It Out, Instead Of Fighting In Church, Even Though The Mother Deserved It. That's Probably Why Florida Evan's Didn't Want Lena With Her Father-In-Law Grandpa Henry Evans. She Wasn't So Skeptical Of Henry & Lena Living & Sleeping Together Before Marriage. They Didn't Commit Sexual Fornication/Fontification.

Many years ago I saw Red Foxx at live comedy show. When he came down in the audience he asked a woman if that was an engagement ring she was wearing. When she said yes Redd Foxx asked her fiance if he gave her the Cracker Jacks too. Red Foxx was brutal.

The funniest part of this episode is when Fred throws a pie and it hits this lady with glasses on in the face. (I think she was related to Aunt Esther in real life).
