Salut Friends, In this video I give my review of the fragrance Acne Studios from Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle (2024) Is it a good one along the lines of Musc Ravageur, Portrait of a Lady, Carnal Flower etc... or a lukewarm designer collaboration...

Call me a snob but I recently visited an Acne store and saw a big display for this and all the millennials spraying it and the store smelling of it gave me an icky feeling lol. Other than that, I think there’s a sweetness that starts to bother me in it. But like you my feelings are mixed, I don’t hate it and I do think it’s well done given the theme.

😄 There were photos of young influencers queuing up outside the Milan boutique for the launch. Can't imagine the smell there. Yes, some peculiar texture & style. Not sure about the decision to get this close to a fabric softner instead of nuanced integration

There were rumors of the Dries v Noten collab re-launching this summer (separate from those conflating it with Acne Studios, as you mention) , but a customer service rep told me no dice. Really really wish they’d bring it back lol

Yea, I would like for it to return (though I have a backup lol) A superb fragrance. Still some are saying it's coming this fall.. Malle has signed off on a couple of future releases including a new Desert Gem etc... No idea what's the truth. Gotta wait and see

This will probably work on a certain crowd who like clean scents. I did notice some of the youngsters expressing revulsion once they smell a teeny bit of indolics in jasmine accord. A Killian scent that had a teeny bit of oak moss in the base was described as dirty/ repulsive by many women. People have different baselines...so maybe something clean like this is more up their alley.

Yes, you are right, things have been sanitized for a while with aquatics, musks and Fruitchoulis. These molecular style laundry musks are also big now. We are seeing some changes... like green woody retro scents, hopefully things are changing to accommodate different tastes.

As much as I love FM I have not tried nor been curious to try this one. I even forgot about it when I went fragrance testing. It seems so far from the houses style. I grew up in Sweden , and knowing the type of fragrances Swedes like to wear( conservative , designer )fragrances I don’t see myself being impressed with this one. Enjoyed your review though!!!

Thanks for your continued support! Yes absolutely, this collaboration felt like a business setup than an artistic one. Some decisions like influencer marketing are unlike Malle. Anyway, his tenure is over.

What scents do you think would layer well with this?

Maybe something floral like with Roses or Orange blossom to balance the Aldehydes and Fabric softner accords. But to be frank, this is big enough thaf I wouldn't layer it with anything

I keep FMs for reference as I follow through with the house till his departure this month. I might decant some to friends. I don't do it with other houses. Also don't hate it.. it's just not on the level I expect from them.

@@ScentZatura First spritz I loved it immediately. It made me feel young once again, lol lol Give it time. It doesn't have that weird skin scent like "scalene", the word you taught me. With Chanel Comete, it wasn't as I expected. But the more I wear, it grew on me. I am half bottle through now with 100 ml FM Acne Studios, chokingly using to the max! Lol Friends can buy for themselves, liked what you spent on ZouZou. Lol lol just joking. Have a great day. Thank you.

Glad you enjoy it... Yes, it's not downright bad or anything. I just wished the fabric softner smell was toned down a bit. It is unconventional, I will admit that. Haha... Luckily Zouzou was a mini. Take care...
