Great, thorough review, completely agree on wearability. Absolutely love this, but all the desert gems are great. As others have said you can go elsewhere for pure oud, but the composition here is a step above imo.

Well done. All the desert gems are beast mode, IMHO. Also, still find challenging to wear in the warm weather, which is ironic given their Middle East vibe. Nevertheless, they are complex and gorgeous and have elevated my appreciation for fragrances. For me, Promise, is the only non-Oud perfume of the bunch, is the bomb. So appreciate your channel

That shirt is immense! I may never be able to separate this scent from the quote "hemorrhaging cheesy ox ass!" 😂 I don't think it smells fecal anymore but it has that illness-bacterial-emanating smell, very good analogy. I love it now and I agree, totally wearable 🐏🦆

When i first sniffed The Night, it smelled like a typical oud attars that i smell all the time. Muslim guys love wearing this type of oud on the friday jummah prayers. I almost got it then i was like neh! i'm happy with my artisanal oud oils. But the blend is something masterful. If one should get this fragrance it shouldn't be for the oud but the composition.

totally agree with you Ram! it doesnt worth the price, it's incontestable especially for who smelled the "non commercials" ouds from ensar, bortnikoff and Areeje.... i've had all the 3 gem in the past, i sold them all... simply i didn't wear them because i prefer my "classics" vintages and moderns "non oriental" scents

People can say what they want but i love The Night. If budget is an obstacle then Mukhallat Shams by Ajmal is also 👌🏻

Luka and Kyrie getting the chip, I can feel it! I love this line by Frederic Malle, Promise was always my favourite but I like all of them. I would still not buy them, in that price range I have so many options and there are other styles I prefer, they wear too heavy for me. If I want a heavy scent, I would rather wear a Kouros or a Lapidus or an amber based scent. Cheers!

Cheers Rams, from an Oud Head point of view your review is right on point , I bought a bottle of Strictly Oud from Ministry of Oud years back and enjoyed it so I always had in my mindset to one day grab The Night as it must be a huge upgrade and stand head and shoulders above my dupe , sadly when I eventually got The Night, I quickly had an ah fuck moment and instant buyers remorse,and I seem to recall in a comment to you stating the Oud is tame and rather fleeting,think you had a giggle 🤭 now Being an oud skank head you totally and rightly see my point hahaha, and honestly the price point is completely insane ,and if a colleague or buddy was wowed on this fragrance ( never going to happen) I would take a fair offer in a heartbeat 💗,cheers buddy sore throat lol, the sports fans weekend right of passage ,hahaha ✌️🙏👍

My bottle is from 2014 and it’s pretty animalic at least in the first 20 minutes. 20 minutes of hell before paradise (for people not used to Oud). Stars in 7! Mavs in 5! 🎉

Even blurbs aren't safe from reformulations nowadays!! 🤯😂🤣 I'd love to get my nose on The Night. I have a few ml's of Fragrance du Bois Sahraa that I find really good, I wonder how close The Night is to it.

A bit pickled/soury but It's a nice perfume with true authentic Oud from start to finish rarely seen in this quality! It's not something mind blowing to justify the price tho... "The Moon" stills my favorite from the Desert Gems collection!

Yeah. Go Mavs. Hope Luka & Ky smoke Boston. Now, coming to The Night. I think is beautiful. Overpriced? Yes, definitely but beautiful. Most of us haven't tried the Areej le Dore's and Bortnikoff's of the world so The Night is still one that scratches the itch. Nebulous from Boadicea the Victorious is also in the same ballpark, so is Octavian from Electimuss. One is more pricey, one is more decent. Let's put it this way. I'm glad The Night has been created. Will never cash out $1200 for it but it is a beauty. Go Mavs !!!

This was literally my first oud fragrance that I’ve tried.. i was fascinated when SA told me what Oud is and I wanted to try and I said “give me “The Night”” because it was the most expensive and boy it smelled like straight barnyard, specificly horse barn… I wasn’t ready for the smell of oud😅

I know for folk that collect fragrances it's for themselves to appreciate and all that story... And I understand you can appreciate it and start to understand it over time.... But what do you think the average person on the street would think of they walk past you abd catch a whiff.... I would be very self conscious wearing this out in public..

Taif al Emarat UAE Oud is way better. Same dung smell but better quality and a lovely sweetness that comes though. And it’s $250 for better quality oud. Much prefer promise and the moon.

I think Then Night vs Areej le Dore Beauty and the beast are the prime example of how mastery of the perfumer can beat quality of materials used. BB obviously has more rose, better quality oud. But the Night is just much much better composition. Altho in the broad strokes these two are basically "the same fragrance" - Then Night IMO is far superior. That being said I would take the house of Areej le dore over Frederic Malle any day of the week and twice on sundays. But in this particular example the Night wins by a lot. I should also mention that IMO the whole Indian attar collection is the weakest stuff Adam has ever produced. So we are comparing the most expensive Frederic malle to the worst line of Areej le dore here.

The opening of the stuff is really rough, I’m not going to lie…and I have a pretty high tolerance for animalics. Smell like straight up rotten blue cheese sitting inside a barn in the sunlight where there’s some fresh piles of crap
