Free Camping Near Santa Fe, NM Santa Fe National Forest
In an effort to escape the Texas heat during the summer of 2021, the Two Tired Teachers traveled to the mountains of New Mexico. Their first spot to camp was a free place in the Santa Fe National Forest. Since it was free, there were no services.
We found the camping spot because a man on Campendium had recommended it. He gave wonderful directions, and Sharon has put those in the video. The part in red, she added so that it might be a tad clearer.
You will be on a gravel road, but it is a wonderful road, even in the rain. In the spot where we were, we didn't have to level the travel trailer at all. It was a great place.
As a side note, if you aren't from New Mexico, you may not know about Blake's Lotaburger. It is primarily a New Mexico establishment although there are two in El Paso and three in Tucson. They have burgers, fries, and shakes.
As we said at the beginning, we want to escape the Texas heat, and the Santa Fe National Forest was a perfect place to do that. While the temperatures were 100 degrees at home, it was a pleasant 80 degrees while we camped in mid July.
The Santa Fe National Forest is the perfect place for several nights.

Next time you come this way you’re welcome to plug in on our 3 acres in Lamy, just south of Santa Fe across from the Galisteo Basin. Would love to have you, you’ll have to help feed the 3 horses though LOL 😆 🐴

Congratulations on the new travel trailer. I hope you love yours as much as we love ours. We're in TX. Once in my life, we had over a foot of snow in North Central TX -- Fort Worth/Dallas area. I love looking at it, but I don't get out in it.
