In this video we finally do a will it start video on our free 64 Plymouth Savoy. It has a 225 slant six that is out of a mid 70s car “super six” which means it has a 2 barrel carburetor. It also has a floor shifted 3 speed manual that was originally a column shifted “3 on the tree”. The car has at least 340,000 miles!

How can you not appreciate a guy who works on cars with his kid (changing the shift ball….go get’um Ralph!), a daughter with the baby goat and mom video taping? Great site! Those old Chrysler slant 6’s…..you couldn’t kill them if you drove them with only 1 quart of oil. One of the best engines when it came to reliability ever produced. Most of the cars rotted out before the engines went bad. In my city, there were still 70’s scamps and swingers taxi cabs in the 2000 with over 500,000 miles on them.

Hey Dude, you need an original AC spark plug blaster. I've had one for 40 years and my plugs come out looking like new. The only thing I do extra is to file the end of the electrode so it has nice, sharp edges for that big, hot spark. That car would be so bad azzz with a cammed 360 magnum under the hood and 275/55-17's rollen' out back.

If you lived up here you'd know why folks buy antifreeze really quick, LOL! But it also helps the vehicle run cooler in summer temps too as it raises the boiling point and lowers the freezing point. I'll watch videos out of the desert southwest where they run plain water in an old car and it's constantly overheating and when I suggest some coolant they're all like, NO, water is better. I say, Okay, if water is better, let's see you drain what's in your big truck that you're going to wind up hauling that thing home with and fill it up with plain water and lets see how far you get. Somehow they never seem to take me up on that, lol.

Back in 1967 my family moved from Minnesota to Arizona ( 2 lane roads for 1800 miles ) in a 1964 Plymouth 4 door white slant 6 ! The five of us traveled for 3 days pulling a trailer much of the time on Route 66 , that car is identical to ours , I wish I had it again but there not a popular car so many of them were crushed and once in a while you can find a 2 door in decent shape ! I think your fuel pump is bad. It may be working a bit but not enough. When you had the line unhooked fuel should have shot out in a full stream and a foot or two high. A few new parts in the ignition, cap, rotor, points, wires and plugs will greatly improve things. You know it runs, these few parts will make it run great.

Man, what a find in this one! I love the way the front and back look, the taillights and fog lights... and being a 4 door only adds to the unique coolness of her! Call me weird, but I think she'd look good with about a 2 inch tall flat black hood scoop, hood pins, and her rear end up a little with shackles or air shocks , (you might have to remove chrome trim at the end of hood to make the scoop work). Yes even here in Nevada we have mud dobber wasps. so far I had them in the gas door of my '89 F150 and also in the cover plate for the handle of my truck. I watched them flying in and out around the handle of my truck. Those 225 Slant 6 engines are some of the best that Chrysler ever produced. That had the worst carburetor I have ever seen in my 50 plus years working on old cars. I never saw one of those engines with 340,000 miles on it I rebuilt one at 200,000. Definitely need a new wiring harness for that one to be safe. as always always nice to see you and the family.

I suspect one of Sleeperdude's secret or alternative motives. When each of his kids turn 16 and wants a car, instead of buying one for them, especially a new one, all he has to say is "Happy Birthday! We have a wide, delightful selection of beautiful vehicles here to choose from. Just make sure it's at least 40 years old. And the '64 Galaxy is off limits."

What a great video. I love how patient you are with your kids and let them help and learn. And then dads across America should be watching videos like this on how to spend time with your kids and actually teach them things. That is a sweet car, what a great find. Nowadays 4 doors are really cool!👍🏻

My first car was a 65 Dart, 225 slant 6, Dad got it from guy going to Vietnam. Had it for years. Then gave it to me at 18. Had tranny rebuilt. dad and uncle rebuilt engine on budget at 150,000 miles in 76 ‘ when we moved to Denver. I don’t think Dad ever changed tranny fluid, was thinking last week. When It finally went out. Trans Guy said to Pause in Neutral between gears( Drive or Reverse) before putting into next gear whatever one, drive or reverse! Saves your Tranny in long run .. Easy on it! Years later told a friend about this and he did not listen, and Bam !his transmission broke the shaft inside!

He turned the crank, installed a 3/4 Cam and an Offy intake with 3 Two barrels, He also installed a 4 Speed Hurst and A Locker Rear End!! It was the ultimate Sleeper car!!!
