The feature where it shows the score of the segment, looks very useful for an orchestrator who wants to learn how to set up some of these familiar clichés. From there, the composer can build on them, and modify them to their own style.

Here we go with the Kontakt 7 Player nonsense. I finally just got Kontakt 6 and can't even install Kontakt 7 Player on my OS. It's really quite maddening. A good way to tell which developers actually care about supporting customers who might not be keeping up with the ever changing demand to upgrade and purchase anew.

I must admit I’m not the biggest fan of kontakt 7 player, but it is a free download. (I haven’t upgraded to full kontakt 7 yet) and kontakt 7 player does support windows 10 and MacOS 11 (Big Sur 2020) which 3 years I feel is adequate enough). I haven’t found any payed for libraries requiring the full version of Kontakt 7 yet. I can imagine that developers are creating these free products in the most up to date verstion of kontakt, thus not available in kontakt 6, and they do have to pay a fee to enable users to use it in kontakt player, even though they are making their library publicly free.

@@Joe-blogcomposer -- Apparently no longer a fee for Kontakt 7 Player... so most new libraries will be done with Kontakt 7 minimum requirement.

What motivates plugin developers to integrate their plugins into Kontakt? What role does Kontakt serve, and is it truly necessary? The software appears to have a complex and cumbersome installation procedure, which proved to be frustrating for me. After installing it, I found the process tiresome and ultimately decided to uninstall it.

Sorry you’ve had a bad experience installing Kontakt, personally I found it no more complicated then installing any other software. As to why develops use it. It negates having to create your own sampler, all you have to do is import your samples and code them. The legato feature within kontakt is amazing, and even novices like me can create quite complex instruments that look good with ease.
