As a 3D modeler and designer, I am both excited and saddened. On one hand, one can quickly and effectively achieve their goals, but the value of the work is gradually decaying. Because no one will then appreciate the hours spent on a painting, and anyone will be able to simply create an artwork. The same applies to 3D modeling. I don't know what to do anymore. Just four years ago, I gave up my job so that I could learn and work in digital art and CGI, and now these AI things have emerged. And now that I've learned it, I worry that everything I've done will lose its value. Now I'm thinking of a detour into programming. It's simply a vicious cycle that never ends.

Your role is now an art director, using AI as a superpower. Embrace it. You should be able to use it in ways that people without your experience won't even think of.

This tool is nice. You start to sketch something shit and then the tool brings you an artwork of a real artist mixed with thousand of other artworks from other artists for you so you can use it as something made by you. This tool is nice.

I agree that these type of tools should never be even mentioned on the same level as real artistic skills, like drawing, painting, photography etc. I studied art and I know very well and respect the value of real artistic skills and knowledge. The way I see these tools is that they can be useful for quick concepts and ideation. Consider them a new, more visual way of doing research for a creative project. Instead of using Google to find references, you draw a rough sketch and describe what you imagined with a prompt. I know many professional illustrators who use these tools for ideation and quickly mocking up things before settling for a direction. These tools should not replace the artistic process, they should support it.

@@YesImaDesigner Thank you for bringing your point of view, and I really agree with all you have said. Doing sketches/concepts on tools like that seems VERY useful. But while many of us will use it just as a different way to do the work we usually do everyday, I really suspect that many others will use it as a real final product, and I don't think it's fair enough to the artists. I don't even think the artists know these tools are using their artworks for that. So while we don't have an agreement between artists and tools in a way that it will be fair enough for both sides, I (personally) will avoid these tools, I can't avoid the feeling of stealing from someone.

its fun to use, but even if those tools are that smart i'm not paying / hiring anyone using them in his freelance job, money is meant to be given for the person who sweat and work hard for it , not for someone typing 2 words in text box . id pay the person who can sit 24 hour crafting a hand made wooden bird even if the machines can generate it faster . rather then give it to a machine that have no soul no feelings no sweat and no human touch that keep a memory attached to that piece he made in it entire life .

I hate this so much. Why are these tech companies trying so hard to replace artists and designers? This isn't helping speed up anyone's workflow. It's just making people lazier and less skilled over time. Making people undervalue talent and the creative process altogether for shortcuts and immediate results. It steals art and uses it as data to train models. It makes companies lay off actual skilled people in favor of making more profits since workers are the biggest expense of a company.

I don't need a PhD in IT in order to use a computer!! Why is it bothering you that we all now have a mean to express our thoughts in an artistic way without being a Salvador Dali?

@@Rais_Lghanjo It bothers me that lazy people want praise and admiration or even credit for copying and pasting in a prompt, without doing any actual creative work. Even the way you frame your argument has resentment for talented and skilled artists who worked on their craft for years and years. As if it's a bad thing to want to strive to be as great as Salvador Dali, if not greater. None of this has led to an increase in creative expression or any of that idealistic bullshit, it's resulting in an exponential increase in derivative mediocrity. Now it's not even a person doing it, it's some algorithm trained on stolen art, spewing out that mediocrity on behalf of the lazy people who resent the creative process. At least before there was some purpose and pride in learning and appreciating the craft, even if you weren't the best of the best. People learned about the medium and the related art history as a byproduct of that pursuit. There was absolutely nothing wrong with how things were before, this wasn't solving any problem. It allowed people to find their purpose and be compensated for the value of their work and a well balanced economy of creators and clients. This relentless push for AI generated content just created a slew of new problems for no reason and provided the perfect excuse for companies to make their artists and designers expendable to make more profits.

@@axxa5000 Except all of this was happening before AI. Companies always prefer the lowest price, US animation studios have been shipping off labor to Korea since at least the 90's. Copy paste generic art has filled tumblr and twitter for decades at this point. People get overly praised for underwhelming art and have been since probably the first line sketched. AI isn't changing any of this, and it ESPECIALLY doesn't impact YOUR ability to create. The real subject of your frustration should be that creating isn't viable without income and that, especially in an age of automation, Universal Income isn't being pushed more to allow people to be people. Instead of targeting the cause of the problem, you get mad at the effects of it and get on an entitled and condescending high horse to put others down.
