I hate to point it out, but when your plan requires gear that is heroically derived, that's not exactly "new player friendly". I've tried both versions of your builds, and neither works without that gear. Which, as a relatively new player, is beyond me currently, and unlikely to happen anytime soon. So how exactly do you do it without either Sinestra or a buffed Chi-ji (or without dumping a lot of cash to funnel into coin purchases, I want to keep this play to win, not pay to win).

So with the fire comp I chose chiji because out of the 3 fire triggers for geddon he was the only one from an event thus the most likely to be available to people. However I did not claim the fire build was new player friendly. The dragons are the closest to new player friendly u probably can get :/ The reason I claim that they are was the fact brightwing is the only epic merc out of the 3. U used to be able to just get away with usinig Xyrella , Samuro and Cariel for a lot of unlocks but sadly they have gotten power creeped :/ I'm sorry it didnt work for ya. I'll try to remember in the future what stuff unlocked from where too
