Free is so underappreciated. Everybody had heard Alright Now but they were so much more than that. Justin, check out the live version of Mr.Big and you will hear a teenaged Andy Fraser playing such a smooth Bass solo at the dusty end of the fretboard. Paul Kossoff was an example of less is more and had an amazing vibrato, it is too bad like Tommy Bolin, he went off the deep end with drugs. Paul Rogers... Well there isn't anything more to be said, he was/is possibly best all around rock singer ever.

Paul Rogers is one of the best blues/rock vocalists ever. Saw him live a couple of times with Bad Company and he really has an amazing voice. Check out the song Mr Big by Free. Think that you'll like it Justin. Cheers.

Back in my band days, we played the Blackfoot version of this song. It was always well received, and we did some audience participation near the end of the song. The Blackfoot version came out during the southern rock era, and it was really grungy. And Ricky Medlocke killed it on vocals and lead guitar. But without this version, there wouldn't be that one. Big fan of Paul, Rogers, and all the bands he was in. Nothing groundbreaking, just good blues rock.

Bad Company Songs like Movin' On (Bad Company 74') and Good Lovin' Gone Bad (Straight Shooter, 75') were party staples by local bands back in analog days....This type of rock with bands like Grand Funk, and Bachman Turner Overdrive spawned a more accessible type of pop rock that garage bands could handle....many of us bought our first guitars to learn these tunes. I had a Japanese copy of the Gibson 335 called a Conqueror.

Rodgers is brilliant live. Try the song Heartbreaker for great vocals.Fire and Water still an album worth a listen.. also The Hunter from Free Live.

I don't think there was more soulful band than Free. It was simple, but it sounded authentic. Bad Company just managed to package a blander formula for an American audience.

Love this song. First time I heard it was when he was doing the Queen+ Paul Rogers stuff in 2006 and its sounds amazing with Brian and Roger on it. May I have your thoughts on Bryan Adams? Wanna know if it's worth paying for a request?

That squeezed guitar tone was popular back then, but otherwise the sound is very much of its time. It's a good song, even if it 'borrowed' from "You're So Vain". Rogers has a lot to do with it, and he was one of the better blues rock singers of the 70's, at a time when the business was overflowing with good blues rock singers.
