We trace the elementary power of nature and present animals and plants in landscapes that have hardly ever been touched by mankind. Switzerland is an alpine country, but it is also Europe's surge tank. Rivers such as the Rhine and the Rhone have their sources here. Glaciers, crevasses, icy cold caves and the underwater dome of the Verzasca are the unusual settings we chose for this film. We meet with rare, selected animal species and present their behavioural patterns, such as the Swiss or Arven jay, the lynx and albino catfish. Cold, wind, snow and extreme locations demand adaptation that make us marvel.

Greatest vacation I ever had in my life was in December 1999 going to Switzerland and staying in Davos in the Swiss Alps. It wasn't just the mountains, the skiing and the sports side of it but the people, the city, the stores, the food, it was just unbelievable. I tell my dad who's 77 now that our vacation to Switzerland was my favorite trip ever and at the time I was only 14. My dad got my brother and I Swiss Army knives with our names engraved and I still got it in my drawer in my bedroom at my parents house.

Thank you so very much. Your superb documentary reminded me of the joy of being in Switzerland. The jlaughter of watching the Ibex leaping across the hills so easily. So many delightful animals, both large and small moving about either in leisure or scurrying about. The clean, fresh scent in the air. How difficult it was to leave. Bless you for such a majestic work of art.

my ancestors immigrated from the swiss alps a few centeries ago. it was delightful to see the world as they might have seen it and imagine thier lives.

First time I've seen groundhogs in Europe! Most of North America and Marmots Groundhogs, I love them, during the summer, I go to the park to feed them all the time, they love carrots and peanuts, look forward to seeing them again in the spring!
