The plywood design is great. It would be really interesting to see an insulated one built for people who live in cold climates like me. I realize these are a Mongolian form of housing, but they also sat around a middle central fire and layered themselves in furs. My biggest concern is the viability of a Yurt in -30 to -40 celsius, which is a normal occurrence in the Canadian Rockies. This design would definitely open the options for possible insulation and weather prevention as the snow wouldn't be as much of a concern as it is with cloth walls. Very interesting. Will be researching this further.

How big is this yurt? Doesn't the ground have to be leveled? Is it wind-proof & blizzard-proof? How much wind? How long does it last? Is it for permanent living? Is the roof insulated & leak-proof, long does it last?

What about additional windows, floor insulation, electrical wiring & plumbing? Are the walls insulated (i.e. for year-round living)? Thanks!
@FreedomYurtCabins7 жыл бұрын
Additional windows are $400 per window, our floor insulation sheathing kit is $500. Wiring and plumbing is all up to you. Think of the Yurt Cabin as a round house with wooden walls and a plywood sub-floor. We provide you with the shell structure and you can build it out however you'd like to. The walls and roof come with two inches of insulation standard. All of our customers who live in Yurt Cabins year round are very happy with the quality of the insulation which is exponentially more efficient than any insulation available in fabric Yurts.

@FreedomYurtCabins4 жыл бұрын
The floor insulation sheathing kit is made with a highly treated subfloor that has a vapor-barrier coating on the bottom to help protect the Yurt Cabin from the elements.
@timwelch1753 жыл бұрын
Is there a reason why you installed a subfloor on a snow covered ground without any insulation?
@timwelch1753 жыл бұрын
Nevermind... Read some other comments. However as a builder I would have specified this in the subfloor portion of the video so I didn't look like I had no idea what I was doing. Lot of people wont bother asking questions. They'll just move on to the next guy who SHOWS insulation going into a floor when there is clearly snow on the ground.

What are the panels made of? Insulated? Waterproof? Off gassing?
@FreedomYurtCabins5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sasha, the panels consist of LP SmartSide on the interior and exterior, surrounded by a Lodgepole Pine frame. There is 2" of fiberglass insulation between the panels for an overall R-value of 9.7. The walls are completely insulated and waterproof. Any offgassing from the LP SmartSide is negligible and below 20 ppt when brand new. The LP Smartside is painted your choice of color for the interior and exterior. For an additional fee, you can choose Behr Premium Plus zero-VOC paint. Thanks for the questions, and happy to help further if you'd like to submit a quote or inquiry on our website.

All of our walls and doors are carefully crafted to fit together and create a beautiful structure that has the aesthetics of a yurt, and the solidarity of a cabin! @@paulmelnychuk5477 As you build the Yurt Cabin, the walls progressively come closer and closer together, leaving a very small gap between each wall panel that is sealed with high grade log cabin chinking. The walls and door panels are all cut and designed to fit together to make a solid structure!

Do you have 32 foot or 30 foot YURT? Do you ship to INDIA? Do you have any installers in INDIA?
@carlschmiedeke1515 жыл бұрын
Looks cool & all, but how do ya heat it , you obviously can't use a wood burner, you'd burn down the forest, as close as it is to all them pine trees
@FreedomYurtCabins5 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl, this specific yurt is an art studio that is connected to the electrical grid, so they use a radiant heater. However, the majority of our customers living in their Yurt Cabin or using it as a vacation cabin install wood burning stoves. The stove pipe is routed out through the wood walls, and the chimney is connected to the exterior log frame. You can also choose to install a mini-split AC/heater, a heat pump, solar window heating, radiant floor heat, etc. Thanks for your question!

how long do the tops last I live in WA and it rains all the time
@FreedomYurtCabins8 жыл бұрын
+johnathan hawkins the DuroLast roof comes with a 15 year warranty. In a rainy environment, it should last quite a while. DuroLast is degraded more by sunlight than anything else, and excessive rain is certainly not a problem.

At first glace, you might be correct, but if you're comparing apples to apples, our yurt cabin kits are on the same level after considering the added costs of building a platform/foundation required for a traditional fabric yurt. All the upgrades you would need to add to a traditional yurt to match ours, come standard on our yurt cabins, with an additional factor of overall safety. With locking doors and windows, and solid walled construction, our yurt cabins are much more secure than a traditional fabric yurt. Not to mention the increased lifespan of our yurt cabins as compared to a fabric yurt that requires heavy maintenance every few years. Once you factor in all of the included benefits of a Yurt Cabin, and understand that our Yurt Cabins will last 3-5 times longer than a traditional fabric yurt, it is clear that a yurt cabin is a much better financial investment. You can find more great information regarding our yurt cabins at freedomyurtcabins.com or check us out on our other social media platforms to discover the difference!
