It was called Sikaflex i-Cure Pro 3 (www.travisperkins.co.uk/screeding-and-floor-levelling-compound/sikaflex-pro3-grey-600ml-422907/p/888195) It seems near identical to the EBT and yes, it worked very well :)

Hi, which do you think is better ebt or 512 for fixing the batterns, really dont want to screw into a new van lol

512 is the white sealant with UV protection for the roof, so I would say EBT is better for inside use. 👍

For screwing furniture into mostly - so you can screw your counters and beaches into something solid and not just into the thin van floor 👍

@@FreedomStrider they just fix to the board you put over the insulation... no batons required... I’ve been laying floating floors for forty years.... also the batons make a thermal bridge... in other words... cold transfers through the batons.. just don’t need them.. by the way I have converted everything from a VW transporter to a 7.5 ton truck over the years..

I screwed my floor down with a thick layer of sika flex under the battens, the reason being is I've heard of the floor coming loose, popping up! over time which makes sense, rough roads, speed bumps, braking forces, etc, in fact, in my opinion, I would say it is essential to mechanically fix the floor down for the sake of 20 holes in the underside of my van it far outweighs not having any permanent fixing. I got under the van, ground off the protruding screws and painted over with under bed seal to match what already comes on the sprinter.

To be honest we've deliberately left it open so that if we want to screw down our beams to the metal floor of the van, we can in future. As for the beams popping up, I'm hoping the weight of the internal structure will keep it stuck tight as that sikaflex is super tough but if not we can screw a few screws in later on - thanks for the real world advice :)

To batten or not to batten, facing this problem. I can see my cabinets and bed secure to the wall beams and as secondary to the plywood floor. Will be screwing down the plywood to the floor... Wats ur thots for less work. Great videos by the way.

As far as we are concerned, the battens are an essential part of building the floor, even if you are not going to screw furniture into the floor itself. 1) the battens allow you to put insulation on the floor (which will be freezing without any) and 2) Putting the ply directly onto the insulation boards is not secure since PIR board is not designed to take weight bearing, and it will most likely squeak like hell. The battens are there to distribute the weight of the ply and people walking around, like a skeleton. Naturally, you'll survive either way but we don't recommend going without any battens. :)
