About SIREN:
“Siren” takes us inside Bristol Cove-a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean. The series stars Alex Roe (“The 5th Wave”) as Ben, a bright marine biologist who finds himself drawn to a mysterious new girl in town, Ryn, played by Eline Powell (“Game of Thrones”), who is a strange young woman with a deep dark secret. Fola Evans-Akingbola (“An American Exorcism”) stars as Maddie, also a marine biologist who works with Ben, and is highly suspicious of Ryn. Ian Verdun (“Life’s a Drag”) stars as Xander, a deep sea fisherman on a quest to uncover the truth; and Rena Owen (“Star Wars” Episodes II and III) as Helen, the town eccentric who seems to know more about the mermaids than she lets on. Based on a story by Eric Wald and Dean White who both serve as executive produces. Emily Whitesell (“Finding Carter”) is on board as Showrunner and Executive Producer. Brad Luff, Nate Hopper and RD Robb are also attached as executive producers.

I really like Donna unlike many people saying she is too aggressive and bad. I also love how despite the hell humans put her through she can still see that not all of them are like this. And yes i know Ryn explained her and convinced her but to people who are trully blinded by hatred like that bastard Xander is impossible to show them the truth or even reason with them. I really really hope she won't die.

The thing is that Xander can't see why this happened realistically despite knowing all the facts. The navy was starving the mermaids and trying to capture them before the mermaids retaliate. Not to mention what they did to Donna. The mermaids attacked Xander's father's ship because it was right next to the navy's therefore they assumed they were allies. They were defending themselves. Xander wanted revenge.

I have a theory about the siren who fell in love with a human : What if Helen was the hybrid child ? That would explain why she's so fascinated by the mermaids, but also why we haven't seen her transformed, why she revealed to be one of them.

No, I think she's the mermaid. Ryn said the child was killed. I think somehow Helen survived the massacre, and decided to live on land as a penance.

Helen being the child is very unlikely since even if it was not killed as Ryn believes the hybrid child was also deformed. I believe the mermaid they are talking about is Helen's mother. Otherwise mermaids must have an extremelly long life span compared to humans. If, however, that was true then it is possible that she was either not allowed to go to the water since the mermaids' massacre was caused by the man she was involved with or she promised the man that she will stay in land in order for him to stop the killing.

Well we don't really know for the hybrid baby. Ryn he wasn't normal but what do we really know about it ? Maybe he was just born with one leg and a mermaid tail ? Could have disappeared after. Helen is acting strange. She said "I'm one of you", not "I'm a mermaid". That means something. Anyway if she's not the hybrid child, I do think she is a hybrid anyway. She's clearly not a regular mermaid.

The question is why doesnt Helen transform when she touch fresh seafood that has some residual sea water in it? Plus when she was helping Ryn with her skin problems she mentions "family recipe" could it be that she came from a long line of land dwelling mermaids that doesn't venture that deep?

I know it's not the popular ship but I just can't help but smile when I see Ben and Ryn together. I really hope I'm right about the effects of the song on him. He's losing it? Yes, because he doesn't understand what the song is doing to him. But Ryn will save him, she is going to be the one that turns it into love. 🤞🏼

I agree, because, It IS a popular ship for some...its only Not popular for the lesbian shippers who keep trying to prop up a Maddie/Ryn relationship. And you're right too, because in the promo for the next episode, Helen says for some the song is Love, and for others its obsession. I think that for Decker it is obsession, but for Ben, its the former: love.

Undriel Grenger I really hope that in Ben's case it's going to be love but I'm starting to doubt it. If we look at the narrative as a whole it seems that the deeper connection is going to be between Ben and Ryn, you know - the history with his family, how they first met, how the "outside" people notice their interactions and little touches, the whole meaning behind the song... Even though I caught these and other signs I still have my doubts. It seems they are trying to make him look crazy or something and Decker seemed so composed and calm. Anyway, we can only wait and see.

Ben does like Ryn and is very concerned about saving marine life. but at the same time the addictive nature of the song makes him feel so drawn to her (like a drug that comforts when stressed). He is trying quite hard to fight off the feeling. Did you notice how he stepped away when she got up at first. Ryn likes him but she does not understand what is happening with him or between them. I think Donna knows though.

I do think that Helena is the baby herself. Helen isn't that old afterall. And the story goes that Bens granddad - I guess- was the one who fell for a mermaid and had a child with her. This child could be Helen, this is why she is living on land and not in the water.

The little one she is talking about I think is Helen. Because Helen is a mermaid, yes, but she is living on land afterall, is she not? Helen would claim to Bens father they are family, cause they are brother and sister. I mean we are talking about a human male who was obsessed or deeply in love with a mermaid. Even if the baby would be kinda like Quasimodo for example, he wouldn't be able to kill it. He would probably leave it somewhere in the woods, hoping the animals would kill it... or someone else could find it and take care of it.

Whst if Ben's already bad in the head? I mean, when she says that he looks so scared that maybe he's already down but he hasn't noticed. If that were so, then if she were to truly leave him after some time together then it's likely he would go mad like his grandfather. I believe that, like a drug, the longer he is with her, the more obsessed he gets, so longer periods of time without her would surely make him crazy. I do wonder if Ryn or the other mermaids know of the effect they have on humans?

Maybe i'm wrong, it's only a theory, but I think there will be other races/species in the next seasons. I think it because fact the merfolk seen in this season are all horizontally tailled ones (like cetaceans and most tailed crustaceans) is an overlampshaded fact. So, I think there will be vertically tailled ones (like most fishs an ichtyosaurs) in the next seasons.

My theory about the mermaid is actually how Bristol cove became Bristol cove. In the first episode we see a play this play takes into the history of Bristol Cove about Ben Pennell's great-great-uncle who fell in love with a mermaid supposably. he left the house and returned to find her no longer there. the show then State back to the water she went never to be seen again then it goes to where Helen tells of where his uncle and his family slaughtered these creatures as a genocide. However one question remains who is Helen exactly? And if I'm correct cause they can live for many years I belive Helen is the mermaid his great uncle fell in love with. And the child was in fact Helen's child.

My theory is Helen is the child that was suppose to been killed Bens father either knows or simply is giving her money because the father make him do it with or no explanation making her Ben's aunt or she is the mermaid that fell in love with his grandfather and could not live in the ocean after what happen,finally if the time does not add then it could be that his grandfather was said child and was mad about his mother abandoning him was looking for her but ended causing all those deaths instead.
