Thanks for sharing. I get that nearly every day In triggered Portland Oregon. I've spoken with several drivers who did this, and they typically say they I was behind a car (As you were here, and they didn't see me because I was hidden by that car, or they simply didn't see me even if I was in plain view. To try to prevent close calls like you show here, I've installed very bright flashing work light that is like a strobe and it seems to help, but I've had three people in a to months get pissed because of the flashing light. Two took a run at me in the bike lane, One pulled a gun on me an a Sikh truck driver who also stopped when he chastised the driver and asked if he was deliberately trying to hit me. I'm a veteran motorcycle rider and helicopter pilot and strive to maintain a higher level of awareness as I would on a motorcycle or in a helicopter, but during about 1200 miles of summer e-Bike communing the close calls I've had on "Bike-Safe" roads and bike lanes has cause me to seriously re-consider communing by bike because of the number of unpredictable and almost unavoidable near misses I've had this summer. The third driver called the police because she said the flashing light could trigger her epilepsy. When I said I will wait for the police and ask them to confirm she was ok to be driving with epilepsy she speed off. Police later stopped me and said that flashing lights were not allowed in "vehicles" in Oregon. When pulled out my phone and said Sure, let's look at that law" she also left. Most often I encounter people running left-turn red lights who are anxious and don't see anything. Yesterday I had a woman run a left turn signal behind a car that started on the green I was behind and nearly got me. I followed her into a parking lot along with two other motorists who saw what she did also followed her and me and confronted her and her lies. So confidant was she in her ability to convenience police with her lies that she encouraged us to giver her license plate number to police. Nearly every day I have at least one driver crowd into the bike lane, Twice I've been kissed by the same city buss driving in the bike lane. I spoke with the bus driver and the city bus company and later she seemed to take revenge with the bus. I sent that video to the city. Another danger with bike lanes are pick-up trucks with trailers Often drivers with trailers don't realize how much wider a trailer is than their vehicle, or that when they turn they can take out a bike. A couple of weeks ago a guy in a Dodge Ram dully with another Dodge Ram Dully on an extra wide equipment trailer grazed my leg with the fenders of his trailer. When he stopped at the next light with with the trailer tires in the bike lane and grazed me, he and his passenger flatly denied ever impinging on the bike lane, then drove off with the trailer tires in the bike lane. I also have a Yak trailer on an fairly expensive e-Bike, with professional gear, and even being well dressed I've been taken as one of the many of thousands of homeless on bicycles and twice assaulted by motorists who yelled obscenities and told me to get out of town. To people in an SUV even through a huge garbage bag full of trash in front of me in the bike path. Stoned drivers are also a big risk in Oregon, America's #1 State for recreational drug use, and when I ride around the proverbial '4:20', I smell and see driver after driver smoking weed on their way home with many weaving in and out of the Bike lane. I understand most cities may not have become as anti-social and hostile as Portland has after year of riots and civil unrest, but because of it I and other cyclists expect and are prepared to encounter it, where others in areas more civilized may not, and could be a greater risk if and when it happens. Bike or helmet cams seem a must as well.

I've said this before but I like your commute. It's definitely 2 completely different riding experiences from day and night. My commute couldn't be more boring, on an extra wide highway with a marked bike lane. Only one traffic light with relatively light traffic most days and the only turn is the turn I make off the street I live on. Snow is the only thing that makes it challenging at times. Hearing a plow coming at certain spots along the way is terrifying lol

Awsome riding experience. Thanks for sharing this. I am having trouble deciding whether to get this ebike or a Hover 1 altai ebike at 28mph/60 max range at 750watts...which is kind of odd for a 750watt. But i am certainly interested. Would it be possible to sit 2 people on the freego? Im 6'0 210lbs and my wife is 5'6 190lbs. Interesting question haha lol but thanks so much for sharing. I watched this video until the very end. I have the Ariel Rider Kepler, dude I see so many people with Kepler’s and they seem to have no issues. When I received my AR Kepler the gears where not seated at all, every gear was popping. I took the bike to an bike shop that sells and work on ebikes. They got the gearing working except that I can’t use the seventh gear. Also The chain keeps popping of the front chain ring. I contacted Ariel Rider for reimbursement for work done, there answer was that they do not reimburse for adjustments. But there is more going on with this ebike. Was not a good buy at this time.

Voltage sets the max speed. Amps out put of the controller sets the acceleration (time to the top speed). I have a e-bike at 72v and 5000w (or 80 amps on the output of the controller). It's top speed is 54mph and has good acceleration. I also had a 1200 watt e-bike that would top speed of 34 with 48v battery. put a 60v battery on that e-bike and the top speed went up to 39mph with the same controller and motor.

As for the battery voltage, the battery will show full as lone as 2 things are happening. 1 the bike is not moving. 2 the battery is above the full charge voltage. See if you have a 48v bike battery will charge to 52v. An 52v battery will charge to 58.8v. An 60v battery will charge to 67.2v and a 72v battery will charge to 84.7v. Now as the battery gets used the meter will show a voltage sag. That is why the meter shows a drop in the gauge. Once you stop it will come back up to full as lone as the battery voltage is at or above the nominal voltage. if you back off the throttle you will see the gauge come back up also.

I viewed the reports on the Lithium batteries life span and cycle charging. It was rather sobering to realize the sciences behind and what to expect, might be a good idea to use this info for your next talking point . The battery is a Large concern especially its length or life and performance to even use these bikes. I saw some good yet pricey chargers that can be mounted to the frame so you can have it for recharge when you're out somewhere. That seems like a great idea.

I have a chargepoint charger and can charge this super73 on the go. I just bring it in my backpack if I’m gonna use it. People just stick Them to the bike so that’s extra weight for no reason unless you use charging stations almost every ride then it makes sense.

@@MrCentralDriver One of my concerns in this is how many times can I recharge battery over its life span, getting my moneies worth from its life span. The phenomena of the charge amount VS miles traveled & miles obtained per charge is a good talking point you might want to do a video on for others to consider. Not sure if you have already covered this, have not look things over to know. What I viewed was "how to double the life of your lithium battery', has some good data concerning this.

The battery gauges on these displays are usually an estimate based on the voltage. Under heavy load, the voltage sags. Cheaper lower quality batteries will sag more under load. If you have good battery cells that can handle a high discharge they won’t sag as much or heat up as much etc. A lot of the low quality batteries in ebikes will start to show their true colors after a few years or hundreds of charge cycles. The battery is like half the cost of the bike, and its the easiest component to cheap out on.

I have an Ariel rider x class, don’t get me wrong it is a great bike, but at top speeds it feels unstable and the spokes always need wd40 and to be tightened for the price I cannot complain a pretty solid price for a bike like that. So I have 2 of these bikes. One I paid for, and the other one I got sent to me for free (for some reason). The first one is better imo. It has 30 PSI tires, and goes up to 30 mph. The second one only has 20 PSI tires and only seems to top out at 25mph. The headlight IS poorly constructed, and actually snapped off completely after a while, from the first bike. The battery is kinda weird. It runs through the first 3 battery bars within the first 10 miles, but then the last 3 bars hold for about 15-20 more miles after that.

Pleeeeease stop saying it's 1200W. It's 850W. FreeGo updated their website and along with the "1200W peak" that they originally had, they now have in the fine print and the specification sheet that it's only an 850W nominal. But in their splash graphics it still says "1200W MASSIVE REAR MOTOR" and in the very title of the bike it states 1200W, to fool people.
@MrCentralDriver
@MrCentralDriver Жыл бұрын
That’s what I was told when I received the bike was that it’s 1200w. Your comment is valid and correct but they labeled this bike as 1200w when I got it about a month ago. Even says that on the rear motor.

Yep, i hate deception like that. If you just click shop then straight to the ebike. It tries to deceive you into thinking its more powerful then it is. I have seen this strategy before. No where on the info page for each ebike does it show that its actually only peak output. If i do not clearly see nominal and peak listed in all aspects of the listing and website i move on right away to looking at different e-bikes. If you go to the home page and scroll down you see in tiny letters, (peak) but literally everywhere else it lists it as 1200w. Each bike listing itself does not even list it as being only peak at all. I just came from website. Nope, i do not play that.
@Trillville43

All companies do this by advertising the peak. It's volts x Amps = watts.

Mr. CD, pleeeze expose the motor as nominal 750 Watt and peaks at 1,200 Watt! The old game is OVER! your size and weight should be an EZ 35 mph on a TRUE 1,000Watt motor. Is there a way to go into advanced settings, and check Volt percentage? Bars are horrible on phones and bikes. Add GPS from your phone, and like all my bikes are always 2-3 mph below the reading on the bikes display, Lastly, from a very credible source on the interweb/ one 18650 battery is the difference between the 48 Volt and 52 Volt systems. On your first review of this bike I almost bought it, but after OCD investigating. The light on another bracket, brake light and seat are good. Yes 1,000 USD, puts you in the TRUE 1,000Watt motor.
