Great clip, thanks for sharing. Did you have any luck testing dedicated ripping chains with this method?

Curious if there's a difference in the surface texture of the boards. For fencing it wouldn't matter, but for other projects where you're finishing the board a rougher cut would mean more time to finish the board.

I just put some freshly milled boards together and used an electric planer today. They came out pretty good considering it was my first time using it. It didn't take too long either.

save to the time and cost a chainsaw mill is slower. but you gain repeatability. no laying out each cut just keep cuten till log all gone. free hand is great tho if the log to big to mill. u just break a large log down till you can use a c mill to finish it. good test tho!

Are you using a ripping chain? If so, how much of a difference do you notice between the ripping chain and a crosscut chain?

I love your work..I love chainsaws..they are great tools!! Have you ever heard the song "lumberjack" by Jackyl? It's one of my favorite songs for many reasons..but one of the biggest reasons is.. they actually play the chainsaw as a musical instrument!!WOW!!! Anyway ..I hope you check it out and love it also..xoxo

someone on a video said it is WAY more efficient the way you do it than with a chainsaw mill, it takes way less off at a time with the mill + it uses way more fuel because you have 10-15 teeth digging into the wood gnawing off dust compared to your 2-3 teeth digging out long chunks each time they pass

Yes the guy I learnt how to do it from , advoco makes says its two to three times mode efficient in fuel and time
