Just a question about firewall, I have freepbx 14 running at lan without being exposed to the internet (using vpn for remote connections). I have added my lan networks as trusted and I was told to add my sip trunk provider as trusted to. Is that correct/necessary to add my provider's hostname as trusted ?

Thanks! This helped me get up and running after our 18 year old pabx died. Some notes, even in the newest freepbx where pjsip the only option, you should still enable chan sip for trunking like Chris says. Pjsip is great, but providers still work better with Chan sip. It took me two days to get my trunk working, and only on chan sip. Second was that I expected this to be like pfsense, but I think this is nowhere as polished. Expect a lot of manual work and diy, since even mundane tasks like preventing certain extensions from calling out are very manual and tedious, even if you pay. Granted, it's very good for a free option, but I was spoiled rotten by pfsense.

The network utilization starts low/none and climbs because the UI went from "not updating the graph" to "we are sending your browser data to update the graph" and averages go up to the level at which browser-to-server bandwidth to update the graph is being shown. kinda like SSHing into your server and then looking at a TCPDUMP and then going OMG i can't see anything but TCP/22 SSH TRAFFIC lol :)

Hello Sir, Thank you very much for Teaching us with very simple method. My name is Kashyap Agravat. I am a network Engineer and I am new to PBX systems and servers. I have also installed Freepbx 14 for 20 Phones. My ISP has not given me any Username and Password. I am having only static IP of ISP-end SIP Server and Static IP range to connect with my ISP. I am already having Elastix PBX Server on my Current location with 120 Phones working. I wanted to install this Freepbx server to my branch office. For that, I am having Core I7 with 16 GB RAM. I have installed the server with Oracle VM VirtualBox. I am testing that server in my current location with only 20 phone. I am having LAN IP range and WAN IP Range. and my ISP has bind one Static IP with their server. So, I need to send request with that IP to their Server. My Question is 1) Can I put my server in different IP range ??(I am having Router to do routing between 2 networks. ) 2) Can My Phone (Local) IP Range connect and register the server which is in Different IP Range? If yes should I need to do some extra Configuration on server.? 3) The server is not connecting to trunk. I have done Trunk, Outgoing and Incoming config in new server same as the old server. But still it is not responding. Please Suggest and Help me. Thank you.

Ive not found anything I cant do, thats all I need to convince me. SMB and enterprises, call centres, hospital, dentist, govt agencies, I've covered most simple to out there setups, even a mining town, though I've also done them on xorcom due to some of their lineup better catering for nearly 900 concurrent analog circuits (so they can offer them dsl) as well as sip points, GS's best is 200 concurrent, but the hardware is where its all at to understand the difference, I looked at multi gateway routing, but the xorcom astribanks make life so easy (though I do DETEST their proprietary telco50 wiring/pinouts) Only markup I put on GS stuff is the cost recovery of courier from supplier to me, my moneys made on install and support and cabling so I have no allegiances to any manufacturer, (most my work is installing ATA's for likes of panasonics, since in australia SIP is all your really going to have with NBN here. I use whats best for client, and me (since unreliable setups require my free warranty time, I'm not gonna use something that costs me wasting time if I can help it) Nobody has been able to tell me what sangoma paid modules can do that they cant do with GS, I'm happy to know if there's things and I cant find a 5 minute work around, since if i'm in that situation, its good to know I have options. I use GS stuff because long term reliability, and its a third the cost of most devices out there (including sangomas), unless youre talking say NEC stuff, then its monumentally cheaper :)

I got a push notification but good ol google aint showing me your comment to reply to, as to the first, wrong, its there, its called virtual queue, as to your second point, saying "apps" without giving examples, but umm I think you'll find you're not quite right there either, depending on what you want of course, but the same can be said of any system, most people have a PC /laptop anyway, desktop phones are not designed to be web browsers :) but if you want, GS do an android based phone line where options are endless

Nothing makes me hate humanity as much as looking at the voice industry. Poor documentation, nothing works out of the box, and if you want to get it working you have to waste a week of your life to do what everyone else is too greedy to share without charging... This is why nobody can have nice things and why we don't deserve to be on this planet. Give a little, take a lot. Nothing unconditional... ever. FML. If you're going to do this, don't do it at all... it's a lie! I will change this.

FreePBX - web configuration for Asterisk+some extras. You can do everything manually in config files if you have time. Buy usually time=money. Best way to save money - buy modules.
@Ressy66
@Ressy66 6 жыл бұрын
thats funny, I haven't touched a config file manually with grandstream, and all without buying modules to do something I probably already do now by default in GS's GUI. my nly gripe is, GS dont do enterprise size systems, the best we can get out of those is 200 odd concurrent calls per unit, so for large deployments we recommend the over priced xorcom units which give us 800 odd concurrent calls, xorcom is based on elsatix.
