Our freezers are not that spectacular. We have 2 small chest freezers. 1 with veggies and baked goods, the other with meat , poultry, and seafood that we stock up on whenever we find a sale. Thanks for watching.

I watched this video as I am getting my bell peppers ready for the freezer. I have never frozen my peppers before. I have several large ones that I am freezing whole… And lots of them that I am cutting smaller to freeze that way. Thank you so much for a complete, easy-to-follow video. I have more confidence now in freezing them. I also have the food saver vacuum process that I will be using.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly20235 жыл бұрын
They are the easiest veggie to freeze. With the foodsaver brand bags they will stay well for a year. We used to freeze using ziplock freezer bags and they would get freezer burn in a couple months. Thanks for watching.

Right on about vacuum seal. They rarely go off and are great eating. A suggestion... freeze your tomatoes as whole, on a tray and then bag them. They are like using fresh tomatoes in chili and other recipes. Think golf balls or cricket ball sizes, they work a treat in any cooked tomato recipe AND they taste fresh.... Cheers

I only freeze them to use as fresh chopped peppers, JALAPENOS . Most are dehydrated, like Cayenne, Habaneros, and some Jalapenos to. into flakes and powder There nice to sprinkle favor and spice on foods. Plus you still can make hot sauces, from the dehydrated pepper flakes and powders too

Do you harvest seeds for planting the following year? I found that seeds grown in my garden adapt to my area better.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly20236 жыл бұрын
I do save some seeds, but also like to buy some fron Baker Creek to keep the catalogs coming. I have seen no difference between the 2 when it comes to the harvest. I save all my bean, lima, okra, and parsley seeds. The cukes, melons, gourds, and squash seeds cross pollinate and are not worth saving. Thanks for watching.

Great video. Thanks! One question. You don't save any of the seeds for next year?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly20233 жыл бұрын
Yes I do. We wait for the end of season ones and use the largest fruit for seeds on some varieties. I also like to give Baker Creek Seeds business so I don't save them all. Thanks for watching.

@unemployedredneckhillbilly20235 жыл бұрын
I don't know the model. We got it at Costco several years ago and it has worked great. I think Costco has their own model numbers. The new ones they have now look different but probably work the same. I tried a cheep one first and it did not last very long before the vaccum pump went out. It also came with marinating containers and a wine bottle seal. Thanks for watching
