Well you’ve sold it to us. What a beautiful place. It’s so nice to be able to wander an old town without fearing for your life with cars everywhere. We’ve not tried the snowball thingys, glad we didn’t at stand 3 in Munich!! That will be one for future German Christmas markets. Glad you stopped for a pint, always good to review the beer! Excellent job as always. Right off to script write for our Munich video which is your lovely faces in it this week!!! Cheers 🍻

Another awesome video! Freiburg looks like a dream, especially with the fall colors and mountains in the background. Coming from the US and now living in Germany, we 100% agree with you on the fact that active city planning goes a long way in making cities pedestrian-friendly and how it's not cities simply lucking into how they were built hundreds of years ago. Cheers for pointing that out! Also, the schneeballen is absolutely messy. We just tried one at the Goslar Christmas Market!

Been going here for around 40 years +- a couple except for the last 4. We stay on a campsite about 6 miles outside at the confluence of 3 river valleys. Best place in the world. The thing that we liked spotting in Freiburg were the shop symbols built into the cobbles outside many shops, particularly on Salzstrasse near Schwabentor, one of the city gates. Also Ravenna gorge has a glassblowing hut at the carpark worth a visit but not as good as when the old man did live glass blowing in the past.

Freiburg is well worth a visit or two during summer, I really love this city and its surroundings! Spend a sunny afternoon at the Beer Garden "Kastaniengarten" on the Schlossberg overlooking the city and take a walk through the foresty park with its numerous viewpoints...... Enjoy! 🥰

We have visited Freiburg a few times but not at Christmas. We are putting that right this year as we start our Christmas trip in Freiburg. Searching for some info I came across your bright, informative channel. We will be wandering eventually to end our trip in our personal seasonal favourite, Vienna. The Ravenna Gorge looks impressive so I will take a look at that next.

Freiburg is so beautiful, thanks for convincing me. Some years back, when I was coming back from England, I took a detour, just to look at the City, but overnight I had fallen illegal. So the only thing I saw was the Hotel room. Now after watching your video, I have to come back to Freiburg. By the way, have you tried the snow balls in Füssen yet?

A Freiburg legend says that if you step into a 6:50 Bächle, you will marry a Freiburger. You haven't tried the "Käspätzle" or the "Maultaschen"?

as said , before in the comments, another fantastic video from and about you we germans would never be up to. firstly, i think - believe it or not. you both fit so much into germany, it would be so much sadness, you leave some day. as an bavarian looking in your soul. i say: just stay. you decide.

Had Schneeball in Rothenburg, and thought it was great. Some don’t like it so I guess it depends where you get it, and what kind you get. But just a little tip. You’re supposed to smash it in the bag, then pick out the pieces. That’s the easiest way.

When revisiting Freiburg during summer, make sure to go to the nearby town of Weil am Rhein. What makes this place so special is its location right on the German border to France and Switzerland. You'll be able to visit three countries in 10 minutes!

Sorry but weil im Rhein isn't that beautiful. There are nicer towns in the area around Freiburg. Staufen, for example. And Basel in Switzerland and Colmar in France. And the southern Black Forest is worth a trip in itself. From the belchen, for example, you have a mega view, on a really clear day you can see the Alpine chain from the Austrian Alps to the Swiss Alps to mont blanc in the Italian-French Alps, and you can also see the Vosges in France from there.

Hello, I'll be visiting Freiburg in 3 weeks :) I'd love to visit the Black Forest but I don't plan to rent a car... is there any bus/ train that goes around the small villages in the Black Forest? I also thought about exploring the forest by bike if there is any bike rental company. But idk about that too since it's gonna be winter and probably snowing lol Any recommendations?

We will be there in December. We only have two days but want to spend one of those days in Triberg to see the falls. We think it might be better to rent a car to get to Triberg. What's your take on that? Is it easy to get there on the train or better to rent a car?
@NearFromHome
@NearFromHome Ай бұрын
Sorry we have not been there, so I do not know! IN general, I do find the public transport in this area to not be very good, so renting a car might be the best option.

Question: Do you have an "Equipment used to make this video" list? Many KZfaqrs have a list that has the camera(s), lens, and handles (?), and microphones (if an external one was used) and frequently with affiliate links to Amazon or some such. SIDE NOTE: You need to carry a pocketknife to cut that pastry ball in half so that it's easier to eat. (And to share.)

I think there is a special ticket for each state, however, I would recommend the 49 euro ticket. it's a subscription service, so you need to sign up the 20th (I think) before the month you need it.

@NearFromHome
@NearFromHome 10 ай бұрын
I think people often confuse what makes European cities so nice to exist in. People often think it's the architecture, when it's in fact the abolition of cars. I don't care about the aesthetics of the buildings going up, I care about walkability. I will take the most unaesthetic, but walkable city over an aesthetically pleasing city overrun with cars anyway any day.
