I'm still here. It made me think about the cars I had. Some good memories and some bad, one being a Lancia beta, I loved the car but it was a bad investment, because two weeks after buying it, it was on the front pages of all the national newspapers, saying that they were rust bucks, after that it had no value, even with the free rust treatment. Lancia ended up leaving the UK market, saying they will never to return.

The Lancia Beta Coupé was a beautiful car. I always loved the look of the Stratos rally car too.

Stayed right to the end boys , shame you didn't mention Cortina's , had 4 of them beauties

Thanks Les. I'd completely forgotten about my Cortina. I had a 1.6L with blue and silver two-tone paintwork with Wolfrace wheels. That was a lovely car. 👍🏼

Another great video. Still watching it now….started Saturday lol. Austin Allegro was my first car. Paid £200 for it in 1991. V reg first time round. Crashed it and rolled it five times and ended up in a tree. Totally ran out of skill lol

Thanks Robbie. Considering the complete lack of safety built into the cars of that era it's amazing how we all walked away from those sorts of accidents. Mind you, you probably did the world a favour getting rid of an Allegro. 😀

@@frencheartrumpet lol. After the roof was all squashed in, I remember thinking how more stream lined it looked…..fast forward 20 years and it could have been a Tesla.

Not the first time I’ve heard that the French don’t haggle on prices. I didn’t know that when I bought the Nissan. They refused to budge on the price but I asked for them to throw in a three year service pack (800€) which they did as long as I put down a deposit that day. Moral of the story is, just be cheeky, it costs bigger all 🇫🇷👍

Flash Harrys!! My cheapest car was £50. We’ve owned a number of Peugeots Citroens and Renaults so we’ve lived with disappointment….Actually, the most fun was a Citroen BX, you could drive along and lift the suspension right up. Lots of fun on motorway drives!!

Citroen BX, always amazed at the ride quality and the size of the bills when they go wrong! Thanks for watching.

You boys and your cars !!! 😂😂😂... my first car was a red Datsun Cherry 1983!! 😊😊... Your right about cars being very expensive in france and Spain. Even the second hand ones are crazy prices!!! Interesting info about the electric Dacia Spring . Think we might look into that. We have a Dacia Duster atm.we've had a Sandero too. And my dad has a New Dacia Jogger!! Great cars for the price 👌

Watch out on AJs chanel for a review on the Dacia. The future in europe is electric that’s for sure. The new EU rules force states to put in more chargers and closely regulate the pricing.

Think it went a little off topic. Thought it was going to be about buying/owning/insuring cars in France. Did like the remenissing about cars though.

Thanks Charles. We're going to record a podcast specifically about those subjects in the near future. We do have a tendency to go off at a tangent sometimes. 👍🏼

Me again! On the subject of electric cars.. 😅.. We've been researching the Dacia Spring EV since you mentioned it Andy!! It is launched in the UK this Autumn. Entery price is £15,000 .. how does this price compare with your French one Andy? And will you be posting the vlog about it on your channel anytime soon . As we are seriously thinking of reserving one? 🤔 your advise would be be very helpful 👌 cheers 😊

HI, yes watch out for a review coming very soon. That’s a good price for it. Make sure you get the extreme version with the fast charger.
@user-es2iz6wh8l3 ай бұрын
@@frencheartrumpet thanks for that. 👍.... hubby Mike wants to know why is the fast charger on the Extreme better? Is it just for convenience. Sorry to pick your brains on a Sunday afternoon!! 🤪😊🤞

@@user-es2iz6wh8l At my mums house I use a charger from the normal mains plug overnight which is fine, At home I have the 7kw home charger which is quick but still takes a few hours from 20% to 85% but the quick charger will go from 20% to 80% in under an hour. It makes longer journeys so much easier, it also offers a possibility to drive to my local supermarket arrive at 75% and then drive home with 100% after a normal shopping trip.

The Extreme EV is £2000 dearer in the UK. Do you think it is worth that much extra money for the convenience of a quicker charge ? (If time isn't an issue).... however.. we will be travelling from South Wales to our holiday home in Chaillac (36) on a frequent basis? 🤔 ... or does the Extreme version give you a better overall performance ? Just wondering!! 🤪🚘🚘🚘
@frencheartrumpet3 ай бұрын
@@user-es2iz6wh8l The extreme also has a bigger battery which you will need for winter days. In summer I can get 250-300km max out of a charge, in minus 5 with everything on it drops to around 160 ! but to be fair It doesnt get that cold for long.
