Cyamite No he is not a communist , he is a social-ecologist. The communist candidate is Nathalie Artaud(Philippe Poutou is from the far-left but he isn't communist , he is internationalist which is not exactly the same as communism).

Lol ;) Most of all, we don't have any reason to throwing floor to Mélenchon's face. Seriously the french mains politics of this last 5 years gave to me the desire to remake sharp a guillotine... (Hollande president (get some floor), Manuell Valls First minister (was slap), and Emmanuel Macron as economic minister (get floor too) Hollande hasn't followed his program, he did nearly the opposite for what is as elected for... Valls use constitutional rights (49.3) to apply a law against citizen opinion and assembly. ( 5 months of strikes against this law). It's because of UE and the first step was created by Macron. Macron created the CICE to give 22 Billion of euro by year in companies to create employments... they aimed for 1million there was ... nothing the CEO get the money! It would be more useful if the money was gave directly to poor peoples. (Sry for my english), cheers.

@Abraham Lincoln As a French, I completely agree. They are both Neoliberal Corporatists who only serve the Establishment. The only reason Macron won was because of the fear of a Marine Le Pen presidency. And if Biden wins, it will only be because of the Coronavirus and the Protests.

@@abrahamlincoln8748 I respect your honesty about how your government works and I too agree with it (we also have our governmental problems but it seems it's not doing well in the Land of Freedom). When it comes to calling Sanders a Neo-liberal, it's a bit complex from a French perspective... Afterall over here he would be from the Parti Républicain afterall compared to French Standards he advocated for a more Liberalised Social Democracy. (Reminder : He calls himself a Democratic Socialist but he's actually a Social Democrat) But anyways... When it comes to Biden being "uninteresting and inoffensive" just like Macron.... I wish it were true for Macron (let's just say things got very bad under his reforms) but when it comes to Biden you're not wrong... Afterall the goal of a Biden campaign was mostly just returning the White House and America to normaly. Even though it's good, it's just sad to know that this probably isn't the last time we see Corruption in a Country born through ideals of the Enlightenment and a war for freedom. (I absolutely hate Trump and I have been observing the protests and cases in America so no need to pass me this info)

I work at the French Parliament a'd everytime I come and shake hand with Jean Lassale I think about the "So you think you can France" ^^ But for real, he's a really nice person :) on the other hand, Marine Le Pen hasn:t done much work... she does not even read the bills we debate on and mostly make political postures instead of arguing over the technical sides of the bills... when she's here (which is another problem...)

Has Marine Le Pen been like this since before her election loss as well? Seems to me that if she's this type of person in general, France and her people do not need a rambling, absentee leader. I may only be a Texan (doesn't seem like much, but I'm a proud one) yet these stories interest me greatly.

@@tancredeadnot5276 As for Mr. Lassalle, he does seem like a genuine person who fought for his constituents. I know nothing of his politics but those kinds of ads would certainly strike quite a few American voters' minds, in my opinion.

It is not perfect, however. We are pushed to make strategic votes to avoid the election of people who seem dangerous to us (and it is people like Macron who always take advantage of it) In France, many of us would like to see a "ranking" vote, for example.

I feel I should mention, as a French person who was invested in these elections, that when Marine Le Pen was talking about people coming and changing the wallpaper, she was referring to the fact that many French fear and believe that immigrants will come in and change French culture, which is of course a big thing in France, and replace it with their own. I am in no way a supporter of Marine Le Pen, I just felt I should clarify, because the worst thing about her is that she is actually terribly clever and cunning when it comes to convincing others to vote for her. Although luckily not enough for her to get elected....this time.

Les Gilets Jaunes showed us that France is still well on the left, and as the hysteria over immigrants calms down, it's hard to see Le Pen rallying a majority again, unless an equally radical person faces her in the next election.

Marc Nassif If France is still well on the left, how come Le Pen managed to win the European elections? Melenchon and other left wing parties, together, barely manage to reach double digits. I’m still surprised that 20%of the French are still willing to vote for Macron

@@samfreeman2839 My analyze : 1) The police brutalizing peaceful protesters made people realized fascists were already in power, so they switched their usual vote to the candidate with the most chance of winning against Macron, aka nationalists. It's a vote of sanction for a small election, it was meant as a message. There was also a islamic terrorist attack right before the election, it sures helped RN to overcome LREM. 2) LREM's electorate is basically people who don't want things to change. They don't care about the yellow vest movement because they're individualists who are winning in the globalization. It's mostly composed by old people, followers without real political views, or simply wealthy people. 3) A good portion of the left electorate switched their vote to the ecologists. LFI played the card of "Melenchon is our saviour and immigration is 200% nice" which doesn't really work well here, the PS still have to overcome the damage Hollande did to the party and they're doing it pathetically, and the fact far left thugs (Anti-Fa, black blocs) were aggressive during the yellow vest movement and created multiple conflicts with the police disgusted some leftists from the left culture, preferring then for this election a centrist approach represented by the ecologists, less radical.
