The most marvellous thing is that it's in black and white and incredibly retro in the equipment and appliances, but the way she presents is smart, funny, warm, informative, and thoroughly knowledgable. Other than occasional presentation, it just hasn't dated. If you were to watch someone make an apple tart on a cooking show now, hers is still the more useful to learn how to do it.

I really like this show. I don't often attempt the recipes, but I enjoy watching her make them. She's so endearing, especially she makes a mistake and laughs at herself

I was making my pastry in the food processor, but I actually prefer the "by hand" technique with the wire pastry cutter. The clean up is easier.

I always wonder what they do with the food after the show? Do they give it to the crew, or what? The same with all cooking shows like this. Surely they don't waste it.
