Why does it seem that French Women have all the secrets? What are they not telling us about aging? French ladies are aging gracefully in their 40s and 50s and seem to be thriving in ways the average American woman can't capture. So what are these French secrets? It's possible they are not secrets at all but actually right in front of our faces. How can we adopt some of these lifestyle modes for ourselves... aging beautifully well into our 40s, 50s and beyond?
I love to talk about French Girl Style. It's so refined, simple, and is never out of place. I've been to France a few times and every time I go, I'm inspired to make changes in my own life back here in the US.
If you love French Woman Style for fashion and the home, you might want to check out my blog: www.unblahyourself.com I also love to talk about aging in general, travel, small changes you can make to improve your daily life, and generally how to enjoy your second half and make it truly, fully lived.

Hi French girl here 👋 . Maybe this has to do with French men. Men in France don’t like plastic dolls AT ALL. They are not attracted to girls with lips injections, fake boobs, heavy make up, and vulgar outfits . To them Kardashian style is a Big No No. They are deeply attracted to natural confident women. So we as women are encouraged by men in this direction. Of course we do that for ourselves as well.

Here's another factor: France doesn't do GMO foods. Gluten-intolerant Americans report being able to eat the bread in France without symptoms. French food is REAL. They don't eat a lot of plastic junk with high fructose corn syrup and added trans fats. French women eat cream and butter, full fat cheeses and whole milk. Americans are taught that these things are fattening, but our diet alternatives are actually worse for us, and end up making a kind of fat that's more dangerous to our health and harder to get rid of. Real food is safer, healthier, and it tastes a heck of a lot better, too!

As a frenchwoman (please forgive my roughly english...) , I can say that there is Paris and the rest of France. I live in a small town in the centre of France and the local MacDonalds are full of women (and men) who don't care about their figure and you see people on the streets munching on sugary snacks. For the vast majority of people, industrial dishes are replacing homemade food. . I've also noticed that young girls are much more obsessed with resembling a single, consensual beauty model than was my generation, and filler injections are developing rapidly. The French lifestyle is becoming increasingly similar to American habits. But isn't this a global phenomenon? Personally, I have a lifestyle that I think is as healthy as possible (and I can assure you that I can't eat anything without gaining weight!), I don't drink alcohol ,but that doesn't make me feel particularly French; I just feel part of the global community of people who think about their health and their consumption habits.

As a German woman, I can only confirm this! Unfortunately, I have never been to France, even though it is a very beautiful and interesting country, but Europe has many different, beautiful and interesting countries and so I have always preferred other places, mainly Italy and Ibiza. But I'm sadly realizing (I'm 50) that the whole individual culture is becoming more and more fading away! Because of the elit western power (political, economic...) this “more is more” (you have to have, buy, have, buy) mentality is being adopted everywhere. The Kardashian style is spreading throughout Europe. Thankfully, the awareness of healthy eating is still much greater than in the USA, but the elites are doing their best to change this through trade agreements such as TTIP etc. Unfortunately, the younger generation is too much a slave to the media. It seems that in a few decades the whole of Europe will be a single washed-out USA clone with hardly any culture of its own. District East and District West. I hope I don't have to experience that as long as I life.

@@atelierXL99 yes, I feel the same way.. I always used to say I am European because I saw myself as a part of the European family.. each family (country) very unique with their own habits and own languages. but it fades more and more and we should think about that when going to vote for the EU parliament on June9th.

I was born in Portugal but raised abroad, we moved back 5 years ago and I agree, Europeans are losing their languages, cultures and ar heavily influenced by social media coming from North America. And fast food is everywhere. I'm not a fan, I prefer better quality food. I love travelling and it's lovely to see that so many foreigners are visiting Portugal, but at the expense of our national identity.

My experience as a foreign exchange student to France taught me several things. Most important was that the French don’t eat much sugar. They will have an occasional patisserie, but maybe once per week. Most meals end with fruit. When I asked my French mother for ice cream, she told me that it was only available in the summer. (This was many years ago.) Traditional French meals were like this: coffee and toast for breakfast, full meal midday (soup, meat or fish, vegetables and a piece of bread, at night supper, a lighter version of the midday meal. The French are very disciplined, and they eat real food. My French mother went to market every day, so everything was fresh. Those lovely baguettes were shared by the whole family. They were to soak up sauces.

I live about 500 Kilometres to Paris but in Germany. I think here are many things similar in the lifestyle and eating. Cooking fresh, eating many vegetables, going for walks and to the gym are here also very important to many people. Eating little portions is also standard. When choosing clothes I take also less and therefore more expensive. Doing operations is also not often here. I think here is everything more natural. Confidence is really important and simplicity. Less is more ❤. Greetings from Europe and sorry for my bad English 😅

I was listening to someone here on yt recently, speaking about going to France and living off croissants and losing all your excess weight. I think the reason this would work is that high fat is essentially great fuel once adapted . Also that the T55 flour used in french baked goods, has very little gluten (making it less likely to stay fresh.. and rightly so) Coeliacs often find they are able to tolerate french cuisine ...

There is one essential component: Even if it is taboo and therefore hidden, French society is strongly stratified socially. The masses with little means are struggling - France has been terribly impoverished recently - and eat low budget food that makes them fat and looking older. There is no income for pampering. Then you have the upper classes, not only in money, as in the US, but also in education, and trans-generational transmission of how to be a beautiful, healthy, classy, successful woman without using plastic surgery, injections ans so forth. The French women who age particularly well, dress incomparably, take time for themselves, stay classy and feminine while they age, are almost always confined to that social class where this knowledge and savoir-faire are transmitted to them directly and where the means allow such lifestyle. I am French living in the US, and for those who will say: it is the same in the US. No it is not. The food also plays a great role as the US food supply is terribly toxic. When I was young in France, an overweight woman was very rare, in any class layer. That was before American food invaded France.

I have been practicing being mindful and noticing when my body tells me I’ve had enough for a while now. I can’t eat the huge portions that everything is here. I can only eat maybe half of most things. Even salads… I would order them, but they are so huge, I can’t eat the whole thing and I they don’t last well to take home, so it feels very wasteful.

Living there indeed it is portion size and smoking, but also not eating between meals and as the meal takes much longer they tend not to be stuffed after eating, but social pressure from mum and friends is also a big factor. Walking is also bigger part of normal life without doing it as exercise. South French food is healthier as well…

This is true. Although slim, I always lose 5 pounds in a week in Paris, despite eating croissants, foie gras. etc., simply because of the many miles of walking and stairs done in daily life there. Since moving from the city in the US, where I walked everywhere, to a rural state, I find it much more difficult to keep my weight low due to the lack of natural exercise here, because we get into our cars to drive anywhere.

Agree. The biggest problem for people everywhere today is the overeating of nutrient empty, so called food which is destructive to mind and body. This is the one thing wrecking havoc in peoples lives, the other most important is their lack of knowledge about their creator. That is so funny, and as my French friends tell me, very true! Lots of effort put into looking like there's no effort. And in regards to the "no eating" thing: they smoke cigarettes more commonly there, and that definitely decreases appetite (which is something I don't really recommend! ) One might wonder, well how is it that they don't eat? Just TRY to get away from cigarette smoke in Paris! You can't. My friend just told me he sees plenty of people pushing strollers with one hand and a cigarette in the other. Smoking is surprisingly popular there. Anyhow, I think the middle ground here is eating well when you eat, with no junk in between. (And no smoking! ) :)

And people do eat, we struggled to find a reservation at restaurants and there was a bakery on almost every corner and lots of supermarkets and speciality food stores, so they definitely eat.
