Another unique French success story, although you'll probably need the subtitles for this one!

Hi there. If videos like this help just 1 person have more belief to keep going, is it not a good thing? I think things like "he's just smart" are a way to get out of doing the hard work and it's only going to stop progress. We don't have to get to Raj's level in order to be a French speaker. Whoever is reading this: keep going and make yourself proud :)

Hats off to Raj for his fluidity in French. Minor issue: Was he living under a rock while he was young? Every school student in India learns about the French colonialists who ruled India. There is even a former French colony of Pondicherry in South India.

I feel like, no matter where we grow up, we can actually miss things happening around us. Especially since the advent of the Internet where we can create our own worlds inside the computer. That's the reasoning I come up with for him not knowing about the language, anyway :D.

I learned French the same way as Raj, I've no interest in learning g gramme at my age, I really enjoy conversation, and I too learn a new phrase and repeat it to the next poo person I meet!! Lol. I have had lots of laughs for example I said rice instead of laugh!!!! Sometimes I chat away so fast that the person looks a bit confused, then they put me straight!! As soon as I hit Calais I'm exited to learn by conversation(we used to spend 6 months a year in France) but now cos os BREXIT. Grrrrrr we have to make do with 3!!!

Impressionnant.

The world is bigger than we know. As I get older, I realise how much I don't know. Life never stops humbling me by showing me what I take for granted (such as knowing the language exists) is not necessarily the case for someone on the other side of the planet with less access to the outside world and cultures from other countries.
@xolang

You're saying that from a eurocentric point of view. How many languages in İndia, with their own scripts and millions of native speakers can you name? What states in İndia and their capital can you name? The world is waaaay bigger than just europe and those countries speaking european languages. 😉

@@xolang Am I speaking from an Eurocentric point of view? You don't even know where I'm speaking from! And India has a densely populated French speaking city (Pondicherry) in its territory. How could an Indian not know that?
@simplica1

This is not possible in 4 or 5 years. He even has a French accent without an Indian accent. The world knows that Indians born and bred in India have an Indian accent in their English which they can never get rid of. Hence this isn't real to me. At all.

Raj was my classmate when he arrived in France in 2019, he’s been hard working and always hanging around with French peeps to try and learn more. He wasn’t afraid to make mistake and I remember him always always trying to speak French even if he only knew a couple of words. His story is absolutely true :)

I have had the pleasure of knowing Raj for quite some time in Montpellier we were in the same University and residence. One thing that truly impresses me about him is his dedication to learning French. Even if the prononciation wasn't good sometimes that didn't stop him from speaking in French. And it's funny, I am bilingual and sometimes when I converse with him in English, he will respond in French 😂 Also his friendly nature makes it easier for him to build connections with native French speakers , so it's not impossible to learn a new language and to be fluent in it.Language barrier is non-existent for him , keep it up my Friend proud of you 🫶🏼
