Today I'm sharing a few project that I'm planning to frog and reclaim in 2024. I didn't have any huge issues- they just didn't end up working for me. Are you planning to frog anything this year?

When you said 2019 was five years ago, I had to pause the video and confirm. I'm really having a hard time accepting this news 😅

I’m just getting comfortable frogging while working on a project to prevent or correct mistakes. I’m learning that it will prevent regrets later on and make for a better experience over on. I’m a mostly a monogamous knitter so I don’t have tons of UFOs. But I did find DK socks from two winters ago that I frogged. They were only my second attempt at socks and I don’t even think I had enough yarn to finish the pair if I wanted so that wasn’t as painful. I probably should find and frog that first pair. But I’m also a bit sentimental and like seeing how far I’ve come. So that pair might stay wonky forever 😂 Ughhhh. The thought of frogging that color work sweater pains me! It’s beautiful. But I totally get that it’s the right decision for you.

Ouch, I could feel the pain of frogging some of these… but it has been motivating for me to do the same! I am first going to see if it fits my teenage niece, otherwise I am absolutely reclaiming the yarn from my Weekender and my Hiemalis too. I think both though have taught me that boatnecks and circular yokes are just maybe not the best choices for my body type. Thanks for the inspo and normalising these feelings about our craft.

Thanks for sharing ❤️ I hope those fit your niece- or become something new! I actually struggle with both of those fits!

Yes to frogging! Over 2023, I frogged 4 finished garments, and while it was sad and annoying, I'm so glad I did it. I feel like I had to wait until this stage of my knitting journey, where I know what I like, and also I can knit fast enough to feel okay with frogging! I can't wait to see what you make with all your "new" yarn!

Frogging is sad but it’s good too. Repurpose good yarn and get a new garment you really want too. When we start our knitting journey, there is so much to learn. Please don’t beat yourself up that something wasn’t perfect in the beginning. We have all been there and sounds like you realize that. Definitely still something to be proud of. You make beautiful garments so you should be really proud and pleased about that. A great podcast, thank you for sharing.

So happy to have just watched your frogging podcast! You inspired me a couple of podcasts ago about rethinking wips and just yarn stash in general. I have since frogged one sweater and soaked the yarn to repurpose it, but the most exciting part is I have 2 13 gallon trash bags of yarn to share with others. I now know all the yarn I own and love what I kept. My color pallet has changed through the years and that helped me let go of yarn so much more easily! I have sweater quantities all together and have patterns picked out for those and everything is so much better organized and brings me much relief and feel more confident in my planning and organization of my yarn. Thank you Hannah for the boost of inspiration to do get this task done!

Thanks for posting. You inspired me to pull out some of my sweaters to alter (lengthen cuffs, redo neck) or frog.

Loving this thoughtful video! I've frogged Brooklyn Tweed's woolen spun yarns before, and I would soak them. I wouldn't worry too too much about the strength! Mine held just fine and I reknit the entire thing. It was Shelter and I had no problems with washing/soaking it.

I’m inspired to go find my forgotten wipes and take a hard look at frogging them. I know I have a Penguono (Stephen West) that has sat dormant for a couple years now as well as a cardigan I started for my daughter who has probably changed sizes and it won’t fit now. I know there has to be at least 1-2 others as well. Thanks for sharing- I know it helped me think about what I have hiding in my yarn storage area that needs to be addressed.

In November of last year I frogged a Gardengate by Jennifer Steingass. I love the pattern, love the yarn (Emma's Yarns) but my row gauge was off so my yoke was huge! All I lacked was one sleeve. But I never would have worn it, so it got frogged. I plan to make the same sweater again, but this time I'll actually swatch first 😅

Frogging woollen spun doesn't always work in my experience. Try a small part on the sleeve maybe. I once felted a pullover and made Christmas stockings from the material because it wouldn't frog. Slippers would work too.

Loved your podcast. Sometimes we have to admit that a knitted item just isn't going to work. It's OK to frog and start over. Question: what are you wearing? It looks lovely.
