Just did mine on my GS300 2000. Gaskets were literally like very brittle pieces of sticks lol. The slightest bend and it broke into lots of pieces 🥲

I have to do this in my new to me 1998 GS300 I bought for a steal from a fam friend who bought it new in 1998 an only has 150k miles… It got oil on plugs wires an he never replaced them so going to do plugs an wires while I’m in there too… Also has an AC leak which is why it was so cheap for me to buy so gotta fix that as well… Worst case I reregister my beater that has AC an use it this summer until I can fix the AC

I’m doing this rn you made the throttle body look easy af to come off meanwhile I’m like wtf is holding this down. My wife is watching people’s tutorials on what else we should replace besides the valve gasket. We have never been happy to work together on our cars but this one made us laugh and get both our hands dirty.

Out of context comment here, This car brought back some memories of mine. I was 3 years old, when I had a toy (1:32 or 1:36 scale die cast model) Lexus IS300. is was red with Japan Street Fighter livery, I loved that thing to the fullest, I disassembled it and cleaned every part, whenever I was bored, I would dip them in the watter, use an old toothbrush to clean all the parts, put them back together. I washed it too much, snd the livery had many scratches. One day, I gave it to my cousin, and now I don't know where it went. I still miss that car.

@David Aix the JZ/UZ were developed in the 90s. Emissions laws alone would make reintroducing those engines non-viable, and not cost effective for Toyota... it'll never ever happen unfortunately. They're legendary motors, but they're never coming back unfortunately

@S Shah and we are going to see yet another Legend go in the US and that's the 1gr-fe I'm pretty sure it'll still be available in the Land Cruiser 70 series which is an absolute Beast but for as far as the Forerunner goes it's going to go also the 5.7 L V8 which is another Legend has disappeared as well I've seen those 5.7l v8 hit over 700k

Between the amount of oil varnish in the valve cover and the EXTREMELY brittle gasket, this has been a problem for a minute and the car is mostly likely run too hot too often as well as it being old.
