My God they were like each other’s drugs. I know it was toxic but in a way I envy them. Also her paintings don’t do her justice-she’s actually quite beautiful! Her bone structure was marvelous

Well said.... not the ideal marriage, but they truly loved each other in their own weird / maddening way... And Frida helped popularize a "Mexican" image that is still popular today.... 👀

I can agree with this.

I see myself a lot in Frida. The pain of womanhood, the physical trauma of child bearing and losing, the unconditional love she showed Diego. The way she looks at him pains me because I know it wasn't reciprocated all the time. Diego knew how wonderful and full of love she is, which is why he didn't let her go. Their love was super complex, but researching and reading about her love life with Diego, I came to a personal opinion it was very one sided.

Thanks for sharing your amazing story..... Pain is a good way to describe Diego and Frida's relationship....... lots of pain...... but absolutely rooted in love.... maybe not the love seen on the Hallmark Channel..... but Love, nonetheless.

@@ProfessorEstradaPhD Unconditional love tends to come at a cost and more often than not, the cost is suffering heartbreak. Doesn't stop me from loving people, it's a thing I surely will forever know how to do. ❤️❤️

I also feel that the love was one-sided. She loved him more than he did her because she was dependent upon him. She had a disability and couldn’t be 100% independent. Also, I think she felt that without him her art probably wouldn’t have as much value.

You have a very weird understanding of love if you believe that love can be rooted in pain...@@ProfessorEstradaPhD

Love her…not him. Her devotion to that toad! She deserved better.

Her devotion to him has always been eye opening.... their "love" breaks all the molds, but no matter what people think of them, it appears they truly cared and loved each other..... arguably, she loved Diego more than he loved her.... Her love is almost redeeming.... no matter what sins you commit, or what you look like, people can be totally and completely loved..... unconditionally.

It pains the heart to see how intense and unconditional her love was. Her willingness to embrace her misery in being in love with someone who did not reciprocate her love is heart-wrenching. She is great and truly adorable.

Love Frida Kahlo. She’s my second favorite artist (first being Van Gogh) and I love all the meanings behind her paintings. I got to see a few of her paintings when I went to NYC in 2022 and it was awesome. Diego Rivera’s work is amazing too and I got to see his work in NYC too. Both were amazing painters even if they weren’t the best couple.

I've just read her biography and figured out how many horrible lies said about her personal life, especially in the comments. Her affection for the man she loves reflects almost how each woman feels, the true affection and her desire to protect him, even at worst of circumstances.

Diego loved her on his own way. Back then she would be expected to be a housewife only supporting her husband. Plus she wouldnt be able to be bisexual. She could be whatever she wanted to be. He was also rich to be able to afford her medical bills and the house. Ordinary man wouldn’t be able to do that. They loved each other in their own ways

I wouldn't wish this "love" on anyone... their "love" didn't even "work" for them, but it's undeniable how much love each had for each other..... worse than a drug....

Yes. She “loved” him in an unhealthy way because she was dependent on him. Since she had a disability after her accident, she couldn’t be 100% independent. She needed him.

Frida was fluent in English. However, I'm almost certain this video has no original audio. The words are hers, but from her diary and letters.
