I was actually named after her. When I was little I always hated my name cause all of the females of my family were named after flowers. I was the odd one out cause my name was Frida. But my mother told me that i shouldn't be ashamed of my name but instead be proud of it. So she showed me frida kahlo and her artworks and also told me she was a latin icon. Now I'm a lot more proud of my name. Not to mention there's not a lot of Frida's in the United States.

Four Joon me too but my mom told me that it was special when I went to the hospital a lady told me that there was another woman her. name was Frida and she was this powerful woman and was Hispanic too I am proud of my name :)

Can y'all please do a video on Maria Felix or as we would call her La Doña! She was a beautiful actress from Mexico, known for her strong character and not letting people push her around. Which was something amazing during a time where Machismo was more prevalent. Please make a video so her legacy will not die down, and also for our Hispanic community to have some else to look up to.

when I was little my teacher had this book and it was abot Frida I asked to borrow it because I was so intristed in the book that l didn't know she was a Mexican icon her art was one of a kind I loved that weird vibe it gave me my favorite paintings have to be the weeping coconuts and girl with the death mask

I hope everyone knows this by now, but every once in a while I'll hear people say Frida "invented" this iconic look. Frida was born in Mexico City (Coyoacán), this iconic look was taken from the state of Oaxaca, which she seemed to take a lot of inspiration from. I've no doubt that Frida beautifully made this style her own, often modifying it to her tastes, but the huipil/olan/hair style are part of Oaxacan culture. I love Frida and all of her work, but I never want to hear people give her 100% credit for something she embraced and was inspired by, that's just insulting.

At a young age frida inspired me. even though i was too small to not understand the meaning of her paintings, i still admire them. Diego rivera inspired me too. I loved art as a child. Id seen my brother draw and would also pick up pencil and paper and draw. My mom would love my drawings and would brag to people lmao.
