I think you should have sanded it at the start because otherwise the paint will chip off and crack like it did but otherwise you did an awesome job
@ULCFilm8 жыл бұрын
I think it looks pretty good! I would take it for a original Friday mask any day..

That’s pretty cool, in Friday the 13th the game, the mask was cracked too similar to the way you had it cracked, now I know how to cracks on my masks now cool.
@mikeyr86365 жыл бұрын
The original mask for the movie actually did have that crackle all over it, it’s just hard to see in the movie. Just take a look at the final chapter movie cover mask, that’s the part 3 with all the crackling 😊
@hunterhollyfield30868 жыл бұрын
I ordered the mask I can't wait for it to come and nice paint job For your first mask the cracks are cool on the mask it make it look old
@RJay18k5 жыл бұрын
which one is thicker 1/8 or 3/32?
@substandardlysubpar97008 жыл бұрын
I think the cracks could work to make the mask look really old and worn.
@OutsideTheBoxReviews8 жыл бұрын
+substandardlysubpar I agree, it has a look that's not horrible, but since the Part 3 is one of the freshest hockey masks in the series I'd rather this one be smooth. I think the cracked look could almost work for the remake mask or something.
@slik.80657 жыл бұрын
Outside the Box Reviews it could work on the Freddy vs Jason mask or it could look good as a part 8 mask after he got hit with the toxic waste.
@ghostjason11634 жыл бұрын
mask for part the does have crackling do your research
@GatlinsFuckinCornfield3 жыл бұрын
@Thomas Blagg there's cracking but it's more up and down instead of what happened in this video.
@Minezform6 жыл бұрын
the clear coat does not work with acrylic paint. only use spray paint. If you paint a mask with acrylic paint and then seal it with krylon, it will crack
@halfnhalfwithsage34168 жыл бұрын
That paint webbing problem has happened to me also. I honestly think is a problem on Krylons end. They changed their clear a couple years ago and it's different for sure. I never had the paint web up like that until they changed the formula of the clear. Now you have to do ultra thin coats. I was pissed about that. Krylon used to be the best. Not anymore.

Really enjoyed the video! You should paint other Friday the 13th masks.

cool mask I just ordered the Jason x mask kit I hope I can paint it though part ten seems easy enough to do wish me luck
@JRock88998 жыл бұрын
I only use JDF masks there great and easy to remold. I heat up part 3&4 masks with a heat gun to make um more narrow and movie accurate..either mask came out well man...the mistakes don't look bad..
@Art.0606 Жыл бұрын
It cracked because there was either finger oils that interfered with the paint before finishing, or you sprayed in high temperatures
@TheOnePistol7 жыл бұрын
The exact same thing just happened to me when I applied the glossy clear coat. Only I didn't put a satin coat on like you did. So I don't know what caused it and I'm really pissed, the mask was perfect and I put so much work into it. :(

Great job!!!
@lilk1008 жыл бұрын
oh yeah I have a Jason part 7 mask when you making the video of the mask part7
@bradleyking41432 ай бұрын
The crackle effect was actually movie accurate because the paint crackled after theu applied varnish to it to age

@madcowrebel42168 жыл бұрын
Should've sanded the clear coat off.
@killerskillet7 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I bought this same mask, first thing I did was strip it down to the raw, porous plastic. Clean your canvas before attempting to paint.
@hm0965 жыл бұрын
SeedlessJellyBeans would still recommend to sand it
@backforblood34213 жыл бұрын
While you were at Walmart getting the paint, you probably could have gotten a complete set with not only the tools but also several sets of snaps for about $6.
@NicholasekV6 жыл бұрын
Does it come with open eye holes?
@vaughnmarshburn56588 жыл бұрын
Pretty good paint job. You should have got a fright stuff blank, they are supposedly made from the original movie molds, and cost about the same
@OutsideTheBoxReviews8 жыл бұрын
+vaughn marshburn These are supposed to have a legacy to screen used props as well, so I'm pretty content with what I got. Fright Stuff looks interesting, though. Maybe I'll try one of their kits in the future, the remake perhaps.
@TheNewBloodDan8 жыл бұрын
Paint crackles when you have a satin/ matte coat followed by a gloss coat. Gloss coats grip the mask more than matte so it breaks about the matte. Gloss coat to a satin/ matte coat is better, but if you want the top coat gloss you can't use matte or satin, just gloss.
@JRock88998 жыл бұрын
So to avoid cracking you are saying to use gloss on gloss? Like I spray the mask with let's say gloss dove white spray paint and then I finish it with gloss clear coat finish? Did I get that right?
@TheNewBloodDan8 жыл бұрын
Jason K start with gloss if you want to end it with gloss.
@JRock88998 жыл бұрын
+TheNewBlood Dan ok cool. Thanks
@MrUnterward8 жыл бұрын
I have made 2 of these and they came out exactly how I wanted. your mask looks to me like you didn't wet and dry the mask before spraying which makes the paint application harder. good effort though.
@OutsideTheBoxReviews8 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Do you mean basically cleaning the mask before beginning paint application or is there some other trick? Definitely open to learn more for next time
@MrUnterward8 жыл бұрын
basically sanding the mask so the paint sticks. the plus point you have if you haven't done this is the paint should come off easy enough with wet and dry paper and boiling water. and soap suds. check out crash creations on Facebook to get photo's of the part 3 look. it's all trial and error. I did 5 cheap masks before buying a jdf. and got my technique right . check my vids to see how they turned out on my horror collection..jc wilde used to have a tutorial on KZfaq also. you could get some tips from there. but it's all to do with finding what works for you best.

what it will cost the original hockey mask worn by Richiard Brooker on Friday 13th Part 3 of 1982 of the cinema?
@zeltix1668 жыл бұрын
The mask broke so they made a replica but if it was still good it would be around $100-150
@EnricoPanebianco8 жыл бұрын
thank you , for having responded to my comment , but it is and was for information purposes only . Then among other things since I'm a fan of Jason Voohrees I was referring to the original mask and not the copy of the mask due to marketing, I meant the mask he wore while filming , I was content not a facsimile , I wanted to tell him same , to be understood, however, thank you just the same.

The actual mask had crackling and Crash Cunningham deliberately causes the crackling on his. Is this mask made of flexible plastic? If not, it isn't the shape of the actual part 3 mask. It looks more like the Jason Lives and New Beginning masks.

Kissai Sith Jen'ari it’s made out of abs. It’s the jdf studios one and it says on the website 0.93 but I don’t know what that means

You can heat and reshape it and you can buy it in 0.060
@Tsadi9Mem9Khet94 жыл бұрын
@Thomas Blagg I know. I don't know why I thought that three years ago. Apparently two different things got combined, perhaps thinking I had read it in an interview with him while it was actually another mask maker who said it. I might have meant Crazydog500 and typed Crash Cunningham, but I'm not sure if he does that either.

OBJECTION!! part 3 and part 4 jason masks are Meringue not almond (Srry my english)
@HorrorFXDesigns6 жыл бұрын
They aren't meringue. Meringue is just the color most people use because it closely resembles the color they used in the movie. They used a base coat of almond topped off with the color camel. The closet you can find to camel in spray paint nowadays is a color called buttercup or buttercream. But it's like $15 and you can only get it online. That's why most people use meringue, because it's cheaper looks close enough and can be found at hobby lobby.

I assume the plastic is at least thicker than the $4 Jason knockoff masks on Ebay?
@OutsideTheBoxReviews7 жыл бұрын
+Tupac Spock I think it's 1/16" thick ABS. It's plenty strong and fairly flexible
@ck5527 жыл бұрын
Is it strong enough to use as an actual goalie mask in a game of hockey?

+C-c-c-ombo Breaker! Haha. It was originally going to be the disco theme from Friday the 13th Part 3, but I got a copyright claim on it so I decided to use royalty free metal instead.
@mr_selfdestrukt8 жыл бұрын
Outside the Box Reviews Well the royalty free substitute was pretty well done in all honesty. So the upsetting news of having to change your original idea due to a copyright claim, isn't too upsetting after all. \m/
