Hockey has too many rules. Can we agree on that? I've always felt that way, but whatever. One of those rules came into play during the start of Round 2 in the Ontario Hockey League. It was a rule nobody on press row had ever heard of or seen applied before, despite having decades of experience in the game. The rule, 63.7, gives a referee the power to award a goal to the attacking team if the defending team dislodges its own net. That's a lot of power. By most accounts, the rule was applied properly in this case. But it also highlights the need to give fans more information, while also hinting at the use of more technology to make the ruling less subjective. There's just never a dull moment when the London Knights and Kitchener Rangers get together.
