3 жыл бұрынIt is nearing the end of the month and I am gearing up for another monthly grocery haul. Before I head to the store I need to check on what I have on hand and clean out & organize my fridge, freezer and pantry. I definitely prefer to stay stocked up at all times. Let's take a tour of all the places I store food and see what we are ending the month with.

Things dont go bad as quick as you think the stove top is like stuffing here in the UK and I've used it at least 6mths after date its dried so it's very shelf stable and the lemon curd it air tight so you've got months on that x

Am uk as well never chuck dry stuffing etc away for months still fine tinned stuff at imperial war museum they got tinned food still on show from second world war to show people that it's still sealed you could still eat it even British army still have ration pack food from second world war still no up until about 20 years ago they were still eating them but think might stopped that now ,l like finding things like this out interesting history

Love your organization and your pantry is wonderful. This was a great video. Love to see what you have after your monthly haul and what is left. I've started monthly shopping as well because I was starting to notice i was tossing goods out or buying multiples cause I forgot i had them( also have started doing inventory before shopping) so this is helping me realize i don't need to buy as much at once. But i must say, i miss weekly shopping, but really trying to stick it out n see how my habits change n i love the challenge of looking for substitute ingredients when i don't have something on hand. Edit: also working on buying produce on a needed basis, sadly, i was also wasting produce because of buying too much at once :/ Im a work in progress 😁

With all the fresh garlic spend some time peeling all the garlic put them in the food processor and separate in ice cube trays once frozen then put the in ziplock bag and take out some when needed.

I always drink lemon in my water first thing in the morning to wake up my system after sleeping all night. This past week I bought a bag of lemons and I just cut a slice off and squeeze in my water. The fresh lemon taste so much more refreshing then the bottled.

We usually clean our pantry and freezer at least once every two months so we can use what we have on hand and nothing goes to waste. I LOOOOOOVE how you keep your pantry and freezer filled with a little bit of everything and stuff for everyone. Thanks for sharing.

I love this video! It’s super helpful! I try to do the same, but have a very small kitchen, so it’s a challenge to organize. Love how your pantry and fridges are organized! Can’t wait to see your kitchen remodel!

I worked in a food bank as a volunteer for a while. Most dry goods; cereals, stuffing mix, pasta all kinds dry, cookies and crackers, mustard, ketchup, soups, canned vegetables, pet food and treats we always put on the shelfs up to 6 months past the best buy date.

I only shop monthly as it is just myself so that helps me to stay in track and helps me save money. My grocery budget isn’t as large as a family would have. I just love your pantry Vanessa. I have that on my next home list as a priority. among other things. Another thing I really want is another freezer. That way I could stock up on meats and sale items. I can’t wait to see what your kitchen projects are. Love your videos.

No u dont have to buy fresh garlic u can go to a indian store and buy garlic paste its good and fresh and what i use as well i will also used minced when i cook a asian cabbage for a spicey one and add some red chili

Some things if not opened can be used years past best before date depending how sealed. They don’t go bad per say but quality and taste can change. When we were kids canned goods didn’t even have dates

I keep pasta and rice and other grains including popcorn for years as long as they are plain not mixes or seasoned or ground. Can items 1 year as long as they aren’t dented or show any signs or rest. Cereal, flour, oatmeal, box mixes not sweet and dinner sides 3months

If you get the Pampered Chef Garlic press you do not even have to peel the cloves. Once you press it through, the whole skin stays in there and you just take it out. They last forever. I'm only on my second one because the 1st one was lost in a move. I've had this one since 2008 and use fresh garlic at least twice a week :)

I have used food a year or more past the "Best Buy" date with no problem. As long as there are no dents (especially along the seam) , bulging or rust, and the food smells good, it is OK.The only thing that did not work was a brownie mix that was almost a year past. The brownies did not rise. They were good crumbled over ice cream, though. According to the USDA, if stored properly, canned food will last indefinitely. How long can you keep canned goods? (usda.gov)

Idk about you, but I’m starting to stock up on easy to cook staples after the storm from winter. But I’m trying to use up all the “winter” foods now cuz we eat so different when it gets hot. I think the pantry is such a constant you have to keep up on. Ignore it a couple days, and it’s out of control, just like the frig. I can’t believe u have to get rid of that laundry frig since you waited so long for it. Lucky person who gets that.

I only will keep stuffing mix for 6 months past the expiration date- as one time after a year I opened it and it smelled bad and another time we cooked it after several months and it tasted bad!

When you were showing the Dole pineapple juice, I wondered if y’all had tried the Disney Dole frozen whip dessert. I get my monthly disability check on Monday, so I’ve started my list of things I need to get, especially in conjunction with what I’ve got coupons for. Kroger is doing a sale for cases of 32 packs of water for $1.99, and you can use the coupon up to 5 times, the only problem is hauling all of them to my car and then into the house. I bought two on Thursday and plan to go back on Monday to finish getting 3 more cases of bottled water.

Thank you for the cleaning motivation today..I cleaned the kitchen while watching your video! 😂 Ok so the fresh vs peeled and chopped garlic dilemma.... I watched an episode of Rotten (Netflix or prime I can't remember) and it totally ruined me, I'm scarred for life... I can't even think about buying peeled, chopped, paste garlic. Only fresh for us now.... Yes it's more work... But I will endure! 😂 Lol 💖🍋

Hi Vanessa. You and Paige probably already know this but there is an online company that sells vegan food. It's called GTFO Vegan. I've ordered from them twice not because I'm vegan but I was curious. It's a little pricey in my opinion but they may have some items that aren't available in your area.😊

I won’t buy pop tarts. We don’t eat anything past the dates. Wen i 1st became a vegetarian I ate a lot of pastas. My gran loved making it so made a vegetarian version. U won’t be buying cat food 4 a while. I’ve found anti bacteria spray hard to get at the mo.

Those dates are so arbitrary on food products. Trust me, they are fine WELL past the date.
