One of Beethoven's very best works. Humor, even jokes, sadness, drama and one of the best fugues he ever wrote. And it's a great tune. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)

Sensational performance and the camera work is wonderful to behold. Gulda was one of kind and a great musician at the core of his being.

Hoch kultivierte live Aufführung dieser heroischen Variationen im gut phrasierten Tempo mit anmutigem Anschlag und sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Das ist auch Beethoven!

프리드리히 굴다, 만능 피아니스트 비인의 외르크 데무스, 파울 바드라 스코다와함깨 비인의 삼총사라는 애칭을 얻은 피아니스트인데 그의 레파토리는 참으로 넒씁니다 바흐부터 모짜르트 베토벤을 자주연주했고 재즈에도 관심이 많았던 만능 연주자, 허식을 배제한 그는 T셔쓰차림이 대머리를 (가리려고~?) 빵떡모자 비슷한 모자를 쓰고나와서 연주를 했은데 그와 비슷한이름 글렌 굴드와 어쩐지 비슷한 괴벽을 가진 연주자입니다 그의 베토벤 쏘나타 전곡연주는 호불호가 있씁니다 32곡의 피아노 쏘나타중 개인적으론 전곡중 절반은 동의할수 없씁니다

Damals war Gulda noch in seinem Zenit und klirrte noch nicht maßlos übertrieben auf dem Flügel! Aus den Variationen holte er, gerade aufgrund seiner Jazzerfahrumgen, Dinge heraus die Andere eben nicht zum Klingen brachten! Auch Jazz basiert auf strengen Regeln, trotz Stegreif!

Une excellente interprétation bien dans l'esprit de Beethoven. Malheureusement le son est très désagréable, quelque chose de trop métallique et d'un peu criard.

Some overuse of pedal e.g. at 14' 58'' and the subsequent low note followed by a high one has rests in the left hand, not sustained.

I agree. Listen to his recording of Mozart's 20th piano concerto. Very "hammer like".

Ziemlich unsicher ... und gar nicht "heroisch" .... Das Stück gehört ganz klar zu Gould , obwohl ich den blöden Kanadier gar nicht liebe , wie die letzten Sonaten zu Schnabel gehören . End of the story , und Ende der Toleranz .

Komplete Quatsch. Gulda gibt hier eine sehr ueberzeugende Live Performance und steht in keiner Weise hinter Gould zurueck. Bravo Friedrich, Buh Fritz
