I don't know why they said Matthew Perry is not an A movie star. How many A movie stars are around there? 8? Well, some can't even act by heart and make a connection with people! Matthew did excellent unforgettable movies with amazing acting, and not being Chandler all the time. And he did it despite his serious problems. He is an excellent actor. He is a A movie star, no matter what they keep telling us. Sometimes I think that it is not us people who underrate or overrate someone, but others...

I agree, Serving Sara was a fine comedy as were The Yards movies.
@dvchel4 жыл бұрын
@Silvi Lev It explains for itself. Matthew Perry was basically playing himself in Friends. You read all about it, as in the sense of humor and everything. With the other actors it is different, because they really had to play someone very different than their own. Jennifer Aniston wasn't a spoiled brat and neither was Matt a womanizing goofball as examples. Also, the other actors had bigger success outside of Friends. By that time in 2003, Jennifer had already her big break in Bruce Almighty, Courteney Cox had a big string of box office and television hits, David Schwimmer had his huge performance in Band of Brothers, Matt had many minor roles in successful box office hits such as Charlie's Angels and he got widespread acclaim for his role in season eight, while Lisa was the first actor on Friends to win an Emmy in 1998.

Writers said once that Chandler and Monica's relationship extended the shows life. Those 2 were kinda cool and believable. But when they tried to do it again with Rachel and Joey that relationship was not believable! I think Rachel ended up slapping Joey every time made his move! That was a good choice because some relationships are better just friends.
@lulilagartos9594 жыл бұрын
Za Z I disagree. It’s just that...two health relationships wouldn’t really work I think. It’s important to have a more "complicated" type of couple and I do believe they were believable...there are a lot of relationships like Ross and Rachel’s. I actually like them a lot...especially because they broke up and grew up apart quite a lot before getting really together again, this couple showed and taught us something, and plus they had great chemistry...and that’s undeniable. ✊🏻

What do you mean Matthew Perry is not an A lister movie star? He made so many movies and they were all so good--both comedy and drama. He had a #1 movie while he was on the #1 TV show at the same time, an unheard of accomplished that only he and Michael J Fox have achieved. Watch the Ron Clark movie. He was so good in it. RIP Matty. 23:23 Excellent points made by the narrator. Finding the balance is key to the success of any sitcom. When to be serious, when to be touching and when to be funny. There is no other better example first and foremost in the show than the break-up between Rachel & Ross in season three, where it was completely lost. The drama coming to overshadow the comedy and of course deconstructing both Rachel and Ross into these mopey and hapless characters.

smh people tend to confuse sexism for materialism in hollywood. if you're good looking n sought after, you will be more successful. aniston is by far the most successful since she's still considered beautiful today. David unfortunately has it rough, even though he's pretty damn good looking but not handsome or macho enough for hollywood standards =/ you only have to read those 50 most beautiful people in the world magazines to understand how shit people's tastes are. it's no wonder many actors switch to theater, you are judged by your talent not your star power or looks. I'm just ranting, cuz most of my favorite stars are victim to these shit practices, at the end of the day... blame society
@dvchel4 жыл бұрын
@Rust Cohle Absolutely true and it explains the transition of Friends as well in the later seasons in comparison to the earlier ones. Friends began as a "comedic ensemble" just like in theater, the reason why David Schwimmer even said he joined the cast. The balance between being serious, touching and funny was right. Momentum was good as well as character development. Then, when popularity was fading due to numerous factors, including the on- and off-relationship of Ross and Rachel dragging on, the show got more about wearing fancy designer clothes and donning great hair. All for the effort to increase its ratings or keep it high as possible. The show had lost its depth and character-driven motive in comparison to the beginning. Of course in season eight the show found that magic again with Ross and Rachel's pregnancy. But ending up losing it once more in season nine and ten to favor "branding" over quality and character-driven plot. Overall, what you mention is the definite downside of Hollywood. With Jennifer Aniston as the best known example when you look at her relationship with Brad Pitt, how it was taking its toll on her on the inside and outside, and then of course the ensuing divorce that left her humiliated, angered and sad. Lisa Kudrow has definitely made the smartest decision as she seems to have the most stable life out of all the actors today.

Six Actors. Six Friends. Six Stars. This isn't the first time that what I call "The rule of Six" has appeared in the entertainment business. The first time that I had knowledge of this happening was with all the men who played The Three Stooges: Moe, Larry, Shemp, Curly, Joe and Curly Joe. The second time was with a group of men from England: Brian Epstein, George Martin, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Now, with this generation, it's the Cast of "Friends". Each group of people came from the right place, at the right time with the right look, the right sound and the right writers appealing to the right age group. Naturally, they all became Superstars and their contributions to The Arts have become timeless.

I loved the finale of this show. My favorite show ever. And my favorite finale that provided us with a happy ending of closure of that chapter of their lives. Whereas Will and Grace completely bombed on their finale. What a disappointment and just so stupid. It’s really left a bad taste in my mouth after all those years of it being a good show. Then as soon as they returned they started picking on trump. Once that happened I turned it off and so did everyone else. Hollywood really thinks that the majority of people are actually democrats. Todays trump supporters and the 1990 -2000 democrats. So they lost their ratings super fast and I’m glad they did. Seinfeld had to do something unrealistic and stupid or bizzare because not one of the cast members grew or developed into the next stage of life or into better people. They were alone, smug, and thought they had it all figured out when Elain was essential a flakey whore, George was a flakey cheap ass who thought much better than he was , Jerry himself was just as annoying and lame as he was from episode one. And Kramer was another flake. They were all self centered flakes. Which essentially is the finale of the show of how they could care less about other people in their lives over s ten year span. Although funny to most people I didn’t like Elaine or Jerry. Kramer came in second but George was the star of that show. His delivery and mental issues about all the small things made that show. Without George it wouldn’t have been good at all. At least friends had growth, people moving on growing up making big boy and big girl decisions like getting married, having children, and no not everyone does find someone so leaving Joey stag was fine but u kinda felt bad for him. Like bring him home the girl that went to the soap opera show Kate. Saying she was back in New York and like to give it another go. Just leave us with something other than Joey being their pet that will visit them once in a while. Plus it really didn’t make any sense at all for Ross and Rachel not to take his Monica’s apartment for grandmothers appointment for rent control rates. Even if they made mention of it would be more realistic than Ross and Rachel being in the smaller apartment plus to be closer to Joey across the way. Even just to make mention was a bit odd since they mentioned rent control.

I love this show and all, but I didn't like how they wrote Monica's character towards Joey like she wasn't very good to him you know? She wasn't a true friend, didn't think about him nicely and all that. To be honest, I love Chandler, but at first glance I would've liked to see Monica and Joey as a couple because I think their characters had chemistry that was tried to be written off by hostility. But thinking about it and based off the series, Joey and Rachel to me are soulmates, they had chemistry in real life and in character, and their story and relationship.
