The transformation is a reference to Sun Wukong. One of Sun Wukong abilities was transferring information and knowledge to another person. That's why Vegeta knew the kamehameha.

The fact that he afterwards caught the Monkey King (Sun Wukong) reference, but didn't know that Vegeta knew the Kamehameha because of it (one of Sun Wukong's abilities is the transfer of abilities and energy), counteracts that point.

7:45 Correct me if I'm wrong it I'm pretty sure the reason Vegeta knows the Kamehameha is because in the original Son Wukong myth, he can share his powers with other people, like give them to them. Am I right on that?

the reason vegeta could suddenly do the kamehameha was due to him and goku touching wrists. in journey to the west, sun wukong could share info with others by doing that

To me I think Vegeta using the Kamehameha is a reference to the big green dub where Vegeta kept saying Kamehameha when wasn't even do it and he did use actually used it the game DBZ shin Budokai in one of the cutscenes

It was a nod to the original Sun Wukong tale. In it, Wukong has the ability to share his own powers with others, which is how Vegeta knew the Kamehameha.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Lord Frieza but... look closely at the statue at 1:04. It would seam that, in this universe, you did not survive... Though Vegeta (and possibly Bardock) fighting you might explain Vegeta having access to Super Saiyan already.
