After an RO installation, ice maker stopped working. Took the thing apart and reassembled it a half dozen times, but no water in the tray. Wish I had found this video two weeks ago. Ran test 63, 58 and finally 55. Tray filled with water and we a back in action. Thank you Beard!

I just went on a service call and found the sensor reading OP. I chased the problem to the main board underneath. The ice maker plug was unplugged!!! Wow, who'd imagine. Plugged it in and ran through the diagnostics and it is working fine. Thanks for the video, it really helped educate me. 😁😁😁😁😁

I found this to be very interesting. My problem was that the ice maker was not filling with water. My issue was I had not changed the water filter in a while, and the lower pressure allowed the water to freeze in the tube going to the ice maker. I plugged in a hair dryer and ran it on high pointed to the top of the fridge right at the top of the ice maker. I did this for about 1 minute. Then, low and behold, it must have melted since it started working again (after about 8 hours) and now have tons of ice! I recommend people try that first.

Few questions: First I have a frigidaire fg4h2272uf - By all accounts online it operates similarly enough to this and no real videos or info on the same problem with that specific model. I purchased this a couple of months ago for 3 grand or so from home depot. First it makes very little ice.. after reading the manual (troubleshooting this initially) I discovered it's designed to make 4 lbs of ice in 24 hours.. just not a lot. Further, just looking at how small the ice holder/bin is tells you all you need to know about how much ice it will cycle through. Even with that,.. I can live with the little ice, as long as it just keeps making it. However, a few months in.. the ice maker just stops making ice. Water comes out of cold water dispenser where you get ice.. the auger motor turns to dispense ice.. it just doesn't make the ice. After a little bit of research into other people fixing their various frigidaire models similar to this: It seems a common theme is they freeze up because they don't defrost properly. (A design flaw.. something that will continue for the life of the Fridge). Any merit to this? Any fixes , maybe for my model frigidaire fg4h2272uf? I'd expect service repair to know about flaws and have some sort of kit or fix to get things working again and prevent it from happening again. If it happened in 2 months, and I let it thaw out the other day and then it magically started making ice again but only for 1-2 days then stopped;.. It seems like this is the issue. You mention the water filter - but it's 60 days old.. that shouldn't be an issue with a 2020 Manufactured fridge just put into service in the late fall of 2020 no? I really just would like to get home depot to take this thing back and let me buy another model.. but from what I've read you have like 48 hours (hardly enough time to determine any true major issues) to 'return' .. after that you are subject to whatever manu. warranty. Are you familiar with my model? Is there anything in your notes/frigidaire support/recalls whatever you would have as a repairman in specific to it? frigidaire fg4h2272uf and the ice maker? Hi, I realize this video is old but it was very helpful to me. I did the diagnostics check and when I do the test for 55, the tray turns and the water turns on but it doesn't fill the tray. Instead, the water comes out from behind the freezer where the water tube enters the freezer. It doesn't come out from the tube or connector but around the seal where the aluminum is cut out and meets the foam insulation. I removed the ice maker and aluminum shield but can access that tube Could this still be a water valve issue? It seems if something is blocking the water from entering the tray. I defrosted and used a hair dryer but still the same issue. Thanks in advance.

I love your videos. We had a Frigidaire French doors and had problems with the ice maker. They actually came out 48 plus times to repair it. One of the technicians I knew, and he said it would work right. (Freeze up) they sent out a new one 3 years later. One with 2 ice makers. After a year the bottom ice maker in the freezer started knocking and then a month later stopped making ice. Can I diagnose with 2 ice makers to see if it is the ice maker or the evaporator. So the replacement ice maker was working real well and then just stopped. It was probably about 2 weeks after the install and then we didn't have any ice coming out of the dispenser. I opened up the tray and it was nearly empty. Took the ice maker out and noticed it did have ice in it. Emptied the tray, reinstalled it and ran it through your diagnostic routine and it started making ice again. 2 more weeks go by and I decided to open the tray up for the hell of it and it's about 1/4 full. It stopped harvesting the ice again. I probably should have went through your diagnostic routine first but I ended up removing the ice maker and dumping the ice out. I ran through your diagnostic routine and everything works. Any idea why it is locking up? There's ice in the tray so it's getting water. It's something with it not harvesting for some reason.

Thanks for the video! I have run through the diagnostics and all tests passed but this darn thing won't make ice. I did replace the water filter, it was past due. The thermistor reads 20 degrees, the spin test passed, the fan test passed, the harvest test passed, and the water test passed. IT did look like there was a little 'hitch' in the harvest test and one little cube came out and it seemed like it did a reset when I exited diagnostics. Can you suggest why it still won't make ice? I believe the problem with the fridge is the evaporator tube running from the ice maker to the freezer is getting the back metal freezing cold, causing condensation and rust, but more importantly it is freezing up any moisture in the drain line which eventually clogs and causes the whole thing to back up with ice. I think a solution might be to run a new drain line away from the freezing back wall.

Do you have any suggestions for an ice maker that stops working after the ice container is filled up? My Electrolux EW23BC85KS7 ice maker will operate normally, but once the container is filled up (multiple trays), it stops making ice. I have to manually go in and unplug/reset it and it will work again until it’s full. I appreciate any advice you can give me!

Have you seen the black gasket that goes between the ice maker and the top of the refrigerator? Called the water fill chute. It’s 2 little pieces of rubber and $75. Do you know if there is a dupe for this or if it’s really needed?

When I run test 58, the tray rotates left about 45 degrees and then just goes back to it's normal position over and over again and the feeler arm doesn't move at all. Will I need to replace the ice maker?

Hi, my problem is that I could run test 55 to fill the tray up with water. When the water is frozen, the ice maker would dump the ice into the bucket. However, the tray would be stuck there and not going back to the home position. I then would have to run test 58 for it to go back to home position. Any idea how to fix this?

Stopped making ice. Turnoff ice maker. For a day. Will make ice again for a little less than a week. Turn off again and do same process. Any recommendations? If so what part number

Hi - thanks for posting this. My ice maker started working again just by following the diagnostic steps. Well, it worked for about two days. I then attempted another run at the diagnostic tests, and my thermistor is reading 10 degrees F, which matches up with my personal thermometer. However, when I press the down button to see test 63, I’m unable to run it. The number on the left is 10 (correlating with the temp from test 52) and the number on the right shows 63. All other diagnostic test will not run. Any idea what could be causing this. Thanks again for the lifeline!

Hello, I defrosted my ice maker with the help of a hair dryer. Its making ice, the bucket is full. When the doors are closed and the lever is pressed the dispenser door flap opens but i dont hear the auger turning and no ice is dispensed. Any suggestions?

We had an RO system put in our house about 4 weeks ago. I purchased the bypass plug and installed so the filter could be removed. We have had water and ice no problem UNTIL yesterday. It just stopped making ice. The place where I purchased the refrigerator blamed it on the RO system even though they replaced the ice maker once and needed to service it because it was all frozen up. We went through all your diagnostics and then disassembled the unit. We are hopeful that the ice build-up we found was the problem....any other ideas?

Why does the ice make keep freezing up? The line that fills the tray freezes every couple days. I’ve run all tests and everything works but couple days after thawing it freezes again

I think my issue is the motherboard not communicating with the ice maker to dump the ice. I can feel up in the tray and feel ice in there....if i run test 63 it will dump the ice...but shouldnt i never feel ice up there? Shouldnt the motherboard sense that ice is in the mold and trigger the ice maker to dump it?

On test 52 mine says OP. When you went through it you said 63 was good, OP means open, and SH means it's shorted and you should replace it. The way you worded it I couldn't tell if you meant you should replace it just when it says SH, or you should replace it if it says SH or OP. So if it says OP does that mean I should replace it or is that something different?

My filter was “bad” for a few months and I noticed there was no ice in the bin (although the secondary ice maker in the freezer was working). I ran through all the diagnostics and replaced the filter and it appeared everything was working again (got a half bin of ice, which I dumped), but when I checked this morning the bin was empty and the fill test won’t dispense water into the tray. I tried pulling the fridge out to see if I could access the line to unfreeze it, but there are five different colored tubes running along the back and I wasn’t sure which one to check. Can you tell me how I can easily check whether the fill tube is frozen? I can’t see it when I pull out the bin the way you can see it on other models. I’m hoping it was just the filter since it worked after I replaced it.

I ran the diagnostics, and everything passed except the fan. When I took the icemaker down, the whole back was iced over and the drain was clogged with ice. I did unclog everything, and put everything back together, but the fan still fails. I dont mind paying the money for the fan, but do you think that could be causing all the ice build up on the back behind the ice maker?

mine makes a fulll load of ice, then stops. It takes us a few days to go through all the ice. then i have to manually advance it to get it started again. Great video! I’m not a “fix it” by any means. I call everyone for everything. A few weeks ago I noticed water in the fridge. I opened my ice maker and discovered that the ice in the bin had frozen into 1 piece. I de-thawed the bin and heard the ice tray fill up. I then found water in the bin. I pulled my bin out and discovered that the tray had frozen over and that the ice maker had been trying to fill the tray which was one brick of ice. I de-thawed the tray and cleaned it out, then restarted the ice maker, only to find the tray refrozen a few hours later. Any thoughts?

The ice making /ice dispensing systems are horrible on these Frigidaire units. Not even 3 years old and I've already replaced the ice auger motor and the water line keeps freezing right above the ice maker.

Help!! This is my SECOND brand new Frigidaire Gallery French Door!! The first one i had for 6 months and the ice maker broke 3 times in 9 weeks... every 3 weeks they replaced and it broke like clockwork! So finally after fighting with Frigidaire I got them to replace the entire fridge. So I got a new one in October. So now 7 months later my ice maker stopped working again!!! Both were brand new refrigerators!! I'm so over this. So I call for service and they are not coming out due to the virus. I can't tell you how much I want to get rid of this refrigerator and get another brand. But in the meantime, I'm stuck with this. This was a $3800 fridge! Great video thank you. I have the same refrigerator and the problem I have is no ice is coming out of the dispenser. All tests pass, ice is still being made and dropping into the container. When I press the ice button, I hear a click and nothing else happens. It started when I accidentally pressed the ice button while using the water dispenser. Any suggestions?

Neither crushed or cube ice will dispense. The auger turns but the ice comes out slowly, little bits or not at all. I can hear it breaking up the ice which I never heard before (in cube mode). When I removed the tray I noticed that the cubes were very big and some were still connected. It's like the tray is either over filling or filling on top of the frozen cubes.... Maybe it didn't drop the ice. Any thoughts or suggestions as what could be wrong?

Where is this ice buildup that he is talking about toward the end? I cleared out any visible ice all the way back to the drain hole and my ice maker still makes ice, but at a snails pace. Is it the hole with rubber around it coming from the top of the fridge when you take the whole ice box out?

So ours will fail 58 and just say "er" it spins an inch and spins back. Yet if I take the cube tray out it spins and works fine. 63 works if ran manually. New ice tray unit? Water and everything else works fine.

I as able to get my unit making ice again. I noticed I have a water leak some where. Looking at the back below where the water lines go in through the back near where the drain hole is on the inside. There is a large rust spot on the back of the refrigerator. In the middle of the rust spot was a ball of ice. This all on the outside back. Can this be repaired?

I am perplexed. I enjoy trouble shooting as much as I can. I ran all of the diagnostics and no error codes came up. I does make ice, however apparently the tray is not dumping the ice and then the water fills on top of the already frozen cubes in the tray and overflows and freezes in the bin below. Is there a way to ensure the ice cube tray is rotating completely enough to ensure the cubes dump out. When I run the diagnostics, it appears to only rotate 1/4 turn instead of completely upside down to dump the cubes. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ugh. I hope you're wrong. I had to replace the ice maker because one, it wasn't making ice. I pulled the ice maker down and noted cracks in the tray. This was well before even trying the diagnostics test. Two, the port where the water comes out (and didn't realize it was right above the tray) was froze over and after replacing the ice maker, it did make ice for a day or two but went back to not making ice. I changed the filter back in September and this is about the time I noted that the ice maker was acting squirrely. After replacing the ice maker, I did run the diagnostics and the ice maker will cycle but now, no water comes out. No ice can be seen in the port. Is there a way to flush this line? And is there a separate water valve that could be failing? Don't begrudge purchasing a new ice maker because it was needed but now, could it be the filter? Noted another comment you made to another that if I'm getting water out the front, and no water is filling up in the tray that it could be the control board. Model number on this unit is LGHB2867PF2. Can you provide me a part number for the control board so I can see what the cost is? John

When it’s displayed 52 my temp says 12 degrees is that normal?

I ran the diagnostic test and some of the digits on the panel are missing. I can still tell what they are supposed to say though. None of the tests worked. I feel like the ice maker is dead, but the weird digits make me wonder if the control panel isn't working right. For reference, the water is dispensing fine, and when I try to activate the ice dispenser, it is making the normal sounds in the door.

How do you clear out the ice as you mentioned at the end of the video? Is that something we can do or do we need to call someone?
