The Supermarine Attacker was a British single-seat naval jet fighter, of the early Cold War era. The Attacker was designed and produced by the legendary aircraft manufacturer Supermarine for the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm (FAA). The first Attackers were introduced to FAA service during August 1951.
The Attacker would be removed the FAA during 1954, only three years following its introduction. The Attacker remained in service with squadrons of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR). The type being finally taken out of RNVR service in 1957. The last operational Attackers would be retired by The Pakistan Air Force, as late as 1964.
As for this kit by Frog, the mould dates back to 1955. And despite its age & accuracy issues, it’s a fun kit to make. I made this kit for my entry into a vintage kit group build on Instagram. Instead of trying to alter the kit to be displayed on the ground, with its landing gear down. (The vintage tooling only allows to have it in flight). I decided to make it “in flight”, with an ocean waves diorama below it.
The diorama is not my best work, but I need to learn how to make water effects somehow. So, this project is a great pick. So will you please join me in this video, were I make a classic FROG model kit, with a twist.
