i can relate to this so much. My parents came to Norway as refugees in the 70s, im now 35 year born and raised in Norway. But Vietnam is in my blood, soul and heart. I dont feel like Norwegian at all. Im coming to Vietnam 15th march just in 9 days for the very first time in my life! Landing in Saigon, then Da Nang. My vietnamese is very bad thou, we only had vietnamese at school for 2 years when I was 6-8 years. The last 15 years i think i use my vietnamese like 2-3 times/year, just when i eat out. Cant wait to test my vietnamese with Real Vietnamese ppl. I recently got a kid, his now 13 months, i had to take a choice to raise him as a Norwegian or Vietnamese Norwegian, and i choose Vietnamese

Well it's very smart that you put Danang into your itinerary not other place, I am 200% sure you will be amazed with this beautiful city and beaches, you better visit Hoi An too. Sound pretty expensive in Norway, those food costs you've mentioned are way way cheaper here so be ready to " rock and roll" while you are in VN huh 😀I am Viet-American working and living in Vietnam over the last 12 years, been around every single city in the country as corporate job required but Danang is our final choice for retirement and we already owned the land to build our future home. Have fun with the coming trip bro!

I hardly ever comment on anything on KZfaq. I just wanted to tell you I really appreciate these new videos you’re doing. I think they’re well done and very interesting even if I never personally visit, but now you’re making me really want to go at age 58. This is even more interesting than travel videos, seeing how people actually live as an expat. Thank you very much for all your hard work.

Glad you like them! I appreciate the feedback. 58 is still quite young and I see many retired people in their 70s choosing to live here and meeting up in beach cafes etc. I hope one day you'll decide to visit!

Thank you Olga and Isis! I'm very much enjoying and appreciate interviews like this. So helpful to get honest, practical insights and hear about local experiences from local rather than the typical drive-by vlogger. Personally, I like hearing from local business people about what they are doing there, and why they came to Vietnam as well.

Excellent, another great interview. I was in Da Nang for 4 days last Nov and will be returning for a longer visit to Vietnam, 90 days this time instead of 9. Weather suits me better than in Saigon. Thanks Olga!

It's a privilege to be able to live nearby the beach with low cost of living and wide variety of foods like the way you have it in Da Nang. I am sure when Vietnam grows and get more developed, this privilege will be harder to have because cost of living will be more expensive for sure. Hope you can enjoy your stay as much as you can while it lasts.

It is a privilege for sure! How affordable it is right now in comparison with South of Europe, for example, it’s unbelievable. Definitely won’t be like this forever.

Hi Olga, how do you guys handle the heat and humidity compared to England?? And compared to Da Lat? Do people generally stay indoors during the intensely hot afternoon hours until the evening gets cooler? What about the months beyond the summer (April to August)?? How is the summer and rest of the years in Da Lat?

Yeah that's right, Vietnamese people afraided to disappoint someone if saying no.😂 But it would be more lovingly i guess friendliness with the Vietnamese you got to learn some street language for sure.

Budget 1000$/month (accommodation) Can some1 recommend a good Area near the beach in Da Dang for a family with a toddler + 2 kids aged 6 and 8, for renting an apartment for 3 months, Jan-April. Gym and Pool would be nice with the apartments complex. I live in Norway so have to get used to the traffic, some place where the kids can run around without me worrying would be nice.

During the war, any Vietnamese girl marry foreigners facing huge problems. if you want to know what it like ask homeless people and people unemployed in the UK. Nobody want to be friend with them , everyone walk away , the lowest people . The hurt and the pain in her memory stay with her forever. if she goes back, she actualy broung back her pain and rejection .Look at the expat in south east Asia living for 20 years, why are they leaving their own country ? not because they are poor or cant find a job . At least in the UK , people get pension , free medical , charity organisation etc The Vietnamese people dont want to tell you these things.

Vietnamese who do not want to come back to Vietnam are mostly for politic not for her/himself problems More than a half of the Vietnamese population in the US are refugees who escaped from South Vietnam in 1975, some of them are anti communist extremists who always against Vietnamese government by telling lies and negativities about Vietnam Many Vietnamese though has lived in the US but can not communicate by American, they only know Vietnamese so they have news from Vietnam by liars Before the covid pandemic there are many rubbish news like Vietnam will become a province of China in 2020, or Vietnamese earn living as beggars while Chinese own everything in Vietnam... Nowadays still have some out of date Vietnamese in the US
