Robert Rodriguez grew to fame with his Mariachi trilogy. The first, "El Mariachi" was a shoestring-budget revenge piece that took Mexico and many in the U.S. by storm. It enabled him to make its higher-budget sequel, "Desperado", which also swept U.S. cinemas from coast to coast, and made his name a household word. Eventually, he made the final installment, "Once Upon a Time In Mexico", a sprawling, star-studded action/intrigue masterpiece with excellent cinemagraphy. Definitely worth investigating.

If you want to see your fantasy of Katie becoming a vampire hunter, what you really need to watch is the From Dusk til Dawn TV series. Katie, the filmmakers used multiple locations in the United States and Mexico to give the film its authentic, gritty feel. The special effects team had to create realistic makeup and prosthetics for the vampires in the film, with Greg Nicotero being in charge of creating the memorable vampire effects. Nicotero is a renowned makeup and special effects artist who has worked on numerous horror films and TV shows. The film also features an iconic dance sequence with Salma Hayek's character, Santanico Pandemonium, which she trained extensively for. She has said, "They just kind of threw me on the stage with the snake, put the music on and said, 'Hey, dance!'" The film was banned in Ireland for violence. Katie, I hope that your medical issues, which I believe are cardiac related, are working out well and to your satisfaction.

George Romero's "MARTIN" (1977) is an amazing little vampire movie... may be the first "post modern" vampire film. It was made after Night of the Living Dead, but just before Dawn of the Dead...and was his first Tom Savini collab. Its a character study and a deconstruction of gothic vampire mythology. Also, Romero plays a "hip priest" in it 😂 essential viewing. Btw, If you can somehow find the "open matte" (square) version, watch that... the widescreen one acrually shows less of the overall image and cuts off some of Savinis gore in one scene.

Rule number 1: if Tom Savini is involved in the movie, then you know you're in for a ride. This is a fun movie that essentially starts off with a bang with your typical bank robbers who are on the run from the law but end up getting in a pretty messed up situation when they run into a vampire coven. Clooney was excellent as usual and Tarantino was creepy as hell as the unhinged pervert who cannot control his impulses. The action was pretty good and the foolishness gets ramped up once they get to the Titty Twister. Murder, mayhem and vampire strippers. What's there not to love about this movie? Fun Facts: 1. Robert Rodriguez used green blood instead of red to avoid the film receiving an NC-17 rating. 2. George Clooney improvised the line "No thanks, I've already had a wife". 3. Cheech Marin plays three different characters, including a border cop, a bar announcer, and a Mexican mafia member. 4. Before George Clooney was cast, numerous actors were considered for the role of Seth Gecko, including Antonio Banderas, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum, James Woods, and Robert De Niro. All passed because of scheduling conflicts. The only one to outright decline the role was Travolta, who said he had no interest in a doing a vampire movie and instead chose to do Pulp Fiction. 5. The trucker vampire that bites Sex Machine (Tom Savini) is the make-up supervisor. 6. Sex Machine's crotch gun can be seen in Desperado (1995), when they search his case and the false top starts to lift. 7. The sheriff and deputy in the beginning at the gas station are Michael Parks and James Parks. Michael was the real life father of James. Michael passed away in 2017.

I'd recommend reacting to the 1988 American science fiction horror comedy Killer Klowns from Outer Space. It's about an invasion of aliens who look, act, and have technology based on clowns. The Klowns come to Earth in order to capture, kill, and harvest the humans in a small town. It's a fun movie if you've never seen it, and it has a lot of cool creature effects done by the Chiodo Brothers. The Chiodo Brothers also wrote and directed the movie. It's a fun ride like this one. I wished Sex Machine (real name Aidan Tanner like the From Dusk Till Dawn TV series) didn’t became a vampire. Imagine his story as a Vietnam vet (Tom Savini is a real-life Vietnam veteran) discovering a village massacre committed by vampires who murdered Viet Cong and regular Vietnamese villagers and how this links well to the events of this story. Frost - the other Vietnam veteran with his lucky cigar - would’ve become a vampire by some other vampire and turn into the vampire chupacabra monster that would’ve got his ass beat by Kate and Sex Machine.

Hi Katie, another great reaction from you and I'm glad you're feeling better. I agree with another of your commentators recommendation of watching Near Dark (1987), it's a slow burner but well worth a watch. A couple of others you might like are The Hamiltons (2006) a low budget film which I can't say much about without spoilers and The Cottage (2008) a British horror/comedy with Andy Serkis and Reese Shearsmith in the lead roles. Also surprised you haven't done a reaction to Bubba Ho-Tep (2002) yet as it stars the great Bruce Campbell and one of his best performances outside of the Evil Dead franchise. For films with practical effects I'd recommend Peter Jacksons first and third films, Bad Taste (1987) and Dead Alive (1992) aka Braindead in the UK though you'll need a strong stomach for both of them. Stay safe and be lucky.

Tarantino was originally gonna direct this movie, but he decided to focus more on playing Richie. And yes, Tarantino for real has a foot fetish, just look at his other movies where he has close ups on womens feet/foot =P And yes, I bet he had the best day filming the drinking from Salma Hayek's foot striptease scene XD This was originally gonna be a Tales From The Crypt movie just like with Demon Knight, Bordello of Blood and The Ritual (which wasn't originally meant to be a Tales From The Crypt movie, but they added The Crypt Keeper in the last minute. That one you should skip, it's horrible!), but was later changed. Even The Frighteners was originally gonna be a Tales From The Crypt movie, but Robert Zemeckis thought it should be its own movie. Tales From The Crypt is a great anthology TV-show and If you haven't seen it, you should check it out =) The FBI agent who gets interviewed on the news is John Saxon, the dad from Nightmare on Elm Street and the lietuenant from Black Christmas. John Travolta got the choice to either play Seth in the movie or Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, and he choosed Pulp Fiction because he said vampires wasn't his thing.

I remember playing a D&D game inspired by this movie which turned into one of the funnest tavern brawls I ever had in a TTRPG game. Tarantino looking through the bullet hole in his hand is a reference to the movie The Crow from 1994. I would highly recommend that film as well, starring the late Bruce Lee's son Brandon Lee. Also the guy from Candyman is in it. If you want some good vampire films, Let The Right One In (the Swedish original, not the remake). A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (which was produced by Elijah Wood, he met the director and loved her pitch so much he produced the movie for her). Also, the actress who plays the preacher's daughter in this film was also in The Way Of The Gun as a surrogate mother who gets kidnapped for ransom. The film is Chris McQuarrie's follow up to The Usual Suspects where he makes a modernized Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid (the final shootout in Way Of The Gun is filmed on the same location and set as Butch Cassidy, too).

I love this film, but I wouldn't recommend reacting to the two sequels. They were straight-to-video movies with much lower budgets and different protagonists. If you want to see an actual continuation of the first film, the closest you'll get to that is the TV series, which starts out as a remake of the first film (with different actors playing the same characters) but then moves off in its own direction. Still wasn't as good as the first film for me, but it was more interesting than the film sequels.
