I remember seeing this movie without knowing what it was about ... when the twist came up with the crazy vampires, that was so exciting❕ 😁👍 You can try checking out "John Carpenter's - Vampires (1998)" movie. It's a hardcore vampires hunting movie, i.e., group of men hunting vampires and more! 😁👍

I miss the 80s... such a perfect intersection between Special and Practical effects, especially in horror. A physical Tar Man will always be 1,000x scarier than something that's obviously CGI.

The special effects in this movie are better than any special effects are better than any cgi that you are likely to find today.. Jerry's friend was a ghoul.. While not quite a vampire he was given special powers in order to protect Jerry while he slept during the day.

Knowing that this is a vampire movie ruins the initial shock this movie is supposed to give.

This was my favorite movie when I was 7! 🤣🤣 The third one is absolutely worth watching! It's Leonardo DiCaprio's first movie!!! 4 and up, though, are the ones that have zero redeeming value.

Hey Skeli. It's been a minute. Glad you're doing okay & hope you can receive the surgery(ies) soon, so you can make us even more reactions. I hope you wrote down all my suggestions, been a few I know. I thought of another old school movie you may want to check out. I remember watching it as a young kid & whenever it was on, even if it was the last 10 or 15 minutes, I had to watch. It's called Equinox (1970) seeing how you like "silly" or "campy" horror & all. Keep up the great work. Hope to see you soon with another great reaction.

Another great horror film that used Cicadas for the creepy sounds (and as a main story detail) was an underrated movie from the early 80s called "The Beast Within". It also has one of the weirdest creature transformation scenes ever.

Mayim Bialik (Amy, from the Big Bang Theory) is in this as one of the Wallace kids. It's the one that asks 'what's that?' refering to the camera.

This movie is my favorite Lance Henriksen role, with Bishop in "Aliens" and Jesse Hooker in "Near Dark" as close seconds. In particular, his exhibition of the madness of grief and the subsequent regret when he realizes what he's done really come through. "What did you do, Daddy?" ...oof. That scene is positively murderous on the heart.

Im so glad you liked Pumpkinhead! I love the fact that Pumpkinhead, while a demonic killing machine, isnt necessarily the "bad guy" since it is just summoned to take revenge at the behest of whoever summons it. And yes, the implication is that Lance's character is cursed to be the next Pumpkinhead. The other Pumpkinhead movies are also pretty good. Glad to see you back, and am hoping for the best with your medical issues. See you in the next one!

Glad to see you back reacting to classic horror movies, Skele! And this one is an 80s cult classic. Cool practical effects. Check. Lance Henriksen being put through hell. Check! Actors pushing 30 years old who are playing teenagers. CHECK! Keep the classic reactions coming. =D

There are a few different 'Pumpkinhead' comics that are really cool you can check out from Dark Horse Comics that tell a lot more on it's origin & the origin of the old woman/witch Hagis. I read a few online myself. I think you would enjoy them. Especially the newer ones..

To answer your question about the sound that plays whenever Pumpkinhead is on the screen, it's an insect sound. Cicadas, I think. The insects who spend 99% of their lives in the ground before coming out for a few weeks to mate once every 13 to 17 years before dying. It's a mating call that sounds similar to katydids, locusts & crickets, though cicadas usually make the noise during the day..

I find it funny that you said "Interesting shoulders.." bc that is one of the first things I ever noticed about Pumkinhead & once said that out-loud about it as well.. Lmfao! That & his head shape (I also compared it to a Xeno) & it's white-looking, blank eyes.. They make that thing look cool as hell, I'll definitely give them that much! ❤✌🏻

Girl, you need to watch the 2nd one, 'Pumkinhead: Blood Wings' now.. I personally always really liked the sequel bc of the story it tells [about the offspring of PH named Tommy, who is killed by local teens; 35 years later, another group of teens hits her with their car, so she conjures up PH again to avenge both her & Tommy. It then proceeds to hunt down both the teens that hit her & the survivors of the original gang of teens]. I saw it so many times as a kid growing up & I personally like it a lot, even if it wasn't as well-received as the OG was.. It has really great effects & it tells a lot more about PH's origin & backstory than this one does. Just a really cool story overall, I feel.. I think you would really like it as well..

I have to agree with the cameras comment - modern cameras don't leave anything to the imagination, the images are crisper than I see real life around me, and as a consequence, the movie loses some of that mystical quality.

one of my favorite films I liked both this one and the sequel after it but then part 3 and the rest of the franchise was quite good but the pumpkin head monster wasn't as organic. his head and hands were okay but I think in one of the films his body looked very rushed. Also I must ask. If you were on a road trip, car broke down, no cel signal and you saw an old cottage and the door magically opened and there was Haggis sitting in her chair, her balding head glowing the light of the fire would you ask if she had a phone or would you walk 3 hours back to town?

Hi Katie enjoyable reaction as always, honestly forgot this film even existed as haven't watched it since its release, and yes there are more Pumpkinhead films but they are not as good as this one, anyway the dog in this film is the same dog from Gremlins, and the actress who played the witch Haggis was born in 1920, but she still had a costume made to make her look the way she did which weighed 68 pounds, also this film is the directorial debut of creature effects master Stan Winstone, and the creature is only known as Pumkinhead due to being buried in a pumkin patch, and yes by the end of the film Ed Harley Lance Henrikson's character had changed into the next Pumpkinhead, Recommendations, The Fog 1980, Scanners 1981, Prince of Darkness 1987, Alligator 1980, Day of the Dead 1985, Lifeforce 1985, Nightwish 1989, Deepstar Six 1989, And if you want some Sci-Fi films to react to heres just a few, Rollerball 1975, Escape from New York 1981, Planet of the Apes 1968, Predator 1987, Blade Runner 1982, Videodrome 1983, The Terminator 1984, there are loads more but the list would be pages and pages long.

Hey Skelle ! 😃 This was a good one! Hope you're doing well. 🤞🙂 edit: while it was never on the level of Freddy or Jason, the Pumpkin head series did fairly ok , but besides a small cult following it has sadly been mostly forgotten about. Its funny you should mention Xenomorphs though, since the creature was a Stan winston creation.

the dog that played gypsy the dog, is really named mushroom, he also played barny the dog in the gremlins movie. also that was with the 1:30 of dead silence at 21:32 and 22:59? there are 4 pumkin head movies in total. they kinda go downhill after the first but not by much, the lore holds up and its worth watching all of them at least once to see the story.
