It’s funny, Bethesda never promised anything other than a Bethesda experience for starfield yet ign docked it for features that they never promised and even said wouldn’t be there. People need to stop rating things on their expectations and just have fun with games.

You'd need to be more specific about what you mean. You can still criticize how space travel or exploration works even if they never said it would be like seamless like NMS, for example.

Game is "awesome" Lul. Rdr2 and gta5 were awesome. This has loading screens for every single building you go into unlike rdr2 from 13 years ago.....

@@EraserTraceur Lol and RDR2/GTAV doesn't have a bunch of loading screens? GTAV in particular is infamous for having 5 minute loading screens on older consoles. And RDR2's loading screens last far longer than anything in Starfield

More like a devolution, isn't it? As the first aim of Bethesda is expanding the target audience, that means going beyond RPG core features and appealing to different demographics. As such, in particular as an RPG (and a Fallout anyway), New Vegas is massively superior over any Bethesda take on the IP. To see but one example why, Game Maker Toolkit has a decent analysis of the "Beyon the beef" questline. Baldur's Gate 3 more recent was the first proper AAA RPG not holding back any in like well over a decade. Prior to that, thankfully smaller studios have long stepped in. Or as the author of the CRPG book put it a couple years ago: "Seriously, we're getting a BioWare game with only two dialog options and a Fallout with no NPCs..."

2023 no fov slider on pc, no brightness settings, no option to turn enemy health bars off, still none of the popular hud, image, or inventory mods that have been downloaded millions of times over 20 years implemented into game. Imagine the games they could make if they weren't stuck on 2003.

The problem now is that it feels like each new game is just the same old game with a new coat of paint a superficial new feature. Its time for them to evolve. Right now it doesnt feel like the world changes as you change. Choices feel superficial the world static and as rpgs have evolved bethesda feels like its stuck in the past.

Ah yes. Getting worse and worse with the RPG elements each entry, they truly are defining the genre. Perks you have to spec into to complete quests. No actual gameplay choices, ONLY hardcoded black and white dialogue baste choices that are just two variations of the samw outcome. Swap the nouns around. RPG masters they are.

they literally took a jaw dropping amount of role playing elements out of their games with each successive release and covered for it by claiming they were "streamlining" the formula but go off 😂 channels in the Bethesda community that make actually compelling video essays and long-form content on their trajectory cover this way better. BGS games are the marvel movies of RPGs
