oh man just the intro of this podcast highlighted several things I have experienced myself: 1. Live in the moment. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. So use history to learn from past mistakes. Use today to make the most of your time, being productive and creating value while enjoying tiny moments and resting as well. Tomorrow, not a single variable is in your control except sticking to your principles and goals in life through thick and thin. 2. Superiority and Inferiority Complex in Pakistan: Example of MBA school giving attitude is similar to several teachers/admins giving me attitude when I was in Froebel's School Islamabad. They couldn't handle my line of questioning so they would resort to imaginary condescending, not realizing that students pay teachers/admin/staff etc, plain and simple. We can see who had the last laugh here! 3. Been in US last 17 years, longer than the time I spent in Pakistan. Pakistan blames all its failures on external forces but 99% of its problems are self created. Why do we get corrupt leaders? Because a majority of our society is corrupt. Our leaders are a product of that society since they grew up watching the normalization of corrupt practices, plain and simple. The day our society self-corrects, leaders will have to self-correct and younger/more educated/less corrupt leaders will come forward in every part. This is already happening 4. Importance of self-belief and self-confidence in taking a risk: If you don't believe in your own ability, who will? If you don't confide in yourself, who will? Be confident and believe in yourself in whatever path you take in life. 5. Financial Crisis of 2008: I was in my sophomore year in university at that time. The crisis presented lots of opportunities to everyone! Store closings meant super cheap items available for consumers. Circuit City was selling PS2 for I think 50% off. Express Inc was selling its best $50 shirt for $15! The mortgage bubble lead to crash in housing. Whoever bought houses when their prices were at rock bottom today have net worth in several millions. There are multiple bubbles happening currently. Best way to prepare is simple. Save MONEY! 6. Pakistan is 250 million people. To not realize that strength, you have to be sleeping in broad daylight

Many thanks Junaid for inviting such a professional and down to earth personality. There were so many things that I could relate to and seeing someone who's already there where you want to be gives you a validation and confidence that I can do this as well. Removing the negative people makes a lot of difference in your life, as I'm getting older I realize your peace matters the most! Key takeaway: - Live the present, don't worry about the future. - Keep trying without any fear! - Whatever you have done in the past, always take lesson from it. - Take advice (but I'd like to add, take advice from the people who are already there - one should never open his mouth in front of everyone) Again, appreciate it!

The superiority complex mentioned in this podcast is actually instilled into us by our so called elite institutions. I'm a graduate from NED university and I was often reminded by my teachers and seniors how fortunate I was to have studied in one of the best engineering universities of Pakistan. I honestly never let this go into my head, and I am so glad I didn't. When I moved to the UK, I realised that I, or NED university, for that matter, is just a drop in the ocean. The ocean is so vast and seemingly never-ending that you never get to fully explore the ocean, and as a result, your tiny drop becomes your own proverbial ocean.

Junaid, this was really great I have learned something new that will have a big impact on way I look things. Just had an insightful revelation on the age-old debate: Is the glass half empty or half full? Regardless, I've realized that having a glass at all means I have the opportunity to fill it with whatever I choose. Here's to embracing life's opportunities, because with a glass in hand, life is undeniably good.

Sofyan Yusufi: The question you raised about why positions don't retire can be understood through the analogy of a fish in water. If they step out of power, it would be like a fish out of water-leading to their downfall. If they leave their positions to compete in politics, they risk ending up behind bars. Therefore, they strive to remain in power for their survival.

Great vlog. Very insightful. However, you cut off the part where Sufiyan was talking about spending time with his young kids and work life balance. It would be great to understand how you can balance family and work, as you grow in your career. This is linked to mental health too. Also regarding existential risks, I believe climate change is one of the biggest existential risks we face today. I am sure there is a lot of work going on in Deloitte re sustainability and climate change. It would be fascinating to learn about that. I hope you can record another vlog with Sufiyan and cover these points. Thanks.
