Great interviews with Charlotte as usual! Her resilience forged in the hottest fires of adversity is absolutely remarkable. Her healing inside and out is obvious and amazing. There is so much to learn from her being self aware and mindful. Her spirit and smile are incredibly endearing.

So happy to see Charlotte again and to hear that she is having success in her life. Also happy to see that she was placed into a normal sized chair for this interview! Congratulations Charlotte on your degree and your hard win successes.

What a beautiful smile , I love Charlotte's voice. I'm so happy she finished school. It is so horrible what she's been through, but fantastic she emerged. Charlotte is still beautiful ! Stay well. You are an inspiration! your friend Tom

Honestly going on disability changed my life. I have bpd, bipolar 2, anxiety, depression, cptsd and former eating disorder. If I didn’t have income I was going to end up doing something very dumb. Yeaaaars of therapy and meds helped but having consistent income even though it’s not a lot, makes me grateful to be here. Rock bottom saves lives or ruins them. Thank you for sharing charlotte.

I was just sitting down for my lunch break and was pulling up youtube to see what I wanted to watch, and was like I wish there was a new Charlotte video... I saw *posted 30 min ago*... What an amazing feeling! This looks like a heavy one though. Looking forward to hearing more about Charloette's story!

Yay! I am so happy for Charlotte! She is not only such an important voice in the Borderline education community but also now in the social work/mental health community!! I would love to see more videos on her discussing cases now with the three psychiatrists/psychologists she saw years ago!!! That could be a way to get a cool look at both the being in the chair to the other chair! :) Thank you too for posting these videos! They are so powerful.

Oh my goodness. I’ve spent a lot of time in skid row and I come from the streets so it’s familiar. Picturing you down there is scary to think about based off the people down there. I’ve been watching your story for some time and I feel protective of you. Damn.

Charlotte - it's amazing how your story arc almost takes the form of a hero quest. It's really cool how you went full circle, but on "returning" you found yourself to be different than when you left. It's impressive how you were able to claw your way back to stability and then continue to grow into a stronger version of yourself. I think the fact that you tolerated the abuse from your ex for that one last night and then immediately went back to the shelter shows that you had learned what it was like to live with less of that toxicity - even though you had to look out for yourself, even though people made fun of you, it was an improvement. There must have been some feeling of internal locus of control.. I guess my question is - what about the shelter allowed you to do that? Is it literally just having somewhere to live that isn't about to be pulled out from under you? Thanks again for sharing your story. Also, great interview questions! Solid conversation all around. Very well cut, great interview flow and storytelling.

When I grow up, I want to be Charlotte edit: If the half joke flew over your head: no it's not /s. It refers to us struggling, regardless of age. It's not meant as literally growing up. A kudos to Charlotte for what she went through and how much she achieved regardless. I want to achieve the same some day. Bonus points if you caught a hint of identity disturbance often found in BPD

I was on and off homeless from 15-29. The main thing that pushed me into REALLY finding a way to fund DBT is my fear of becoming homeless once more. It would not be so easy now that I'm old and tired. As always, thank you for sharing your story. Edit: Okay, finished teh video. As a person who has always had issues taking care of themselves, I am really inspired by this.

The only reason I was finally able to get into a good DBT program and really into recovery is because I was able to stay with relatives, even though I had a good job. I work in the affordable housing industry now. Thank you for sharing your story, You’re an inspiration!

Welcome to the field of Social Work! BPD does offer some amazing skills to the field, that straight talk, calm in a crisis (yes!) no matter what it is, being the right squeaky wheel on behalf of others , unafraid of literally anyone on behalf of right. 😊

Charlotte should focus on bettering her own health. Focus on getting stronger with positive habits built to maintain her body and mind in positive state : exercise, diet, refrain from substance use, and then focus on loving herself and then she may try to better friendships and then try a relationship. But do it in stages.

If there were resources in place where I live and healthcare, I’d not have felt so desperate that I attempted suicide twice to escape my abusive marriage. I’d not have felt like a burden to my family… she’s so right that housing and healthcare give you the space to heal and figure yourself out so you can take those next steps.

everything she says is true about housing first and universal health care, but basically we (meaning Americans) just don't care. if people suffer, we don't care. a minority do, but we (the minority) have no weight in the decisions about these things. how do you get people to care? you can't. it has to come from within them. and the rest of us just have to wait.

As an autistic person with old and adhd, I legit STILL don't know how you pay for an expensive apartment of your own while paying school and going to school f/t simultaneously? Like, logistically. Like how do you keep your mind trained on finishing school while you work loads of hours? Wtf is that even possible, where is like $5K a month coming from every month from a part time job? Are you fluffing billionaires balls or mining for gold??? Otherwise how can u work so many hours and not have them conflict with grad school ffs? And isn't this incredible stress an awful idea for those with unstable mental health?????? After all these years i hear these "success stories if wome" and dont buy them at all.
