Over the years they eventually adopted nine girls. Their story spread across the country, even appearing in The New York Times. Those years were filled with joy, challenges, victories, and overcoming hardship. This is their story.

My grandfather was put on the orphan train in Boston. He was 9-11 years old and was taken in by a rancher in New Mexico along with other boys who had been passed over on the long train trip west. The boys lived in a bunk house and learned ranch chores and how to be cowboys. He ran away at age 12-14 and somehow made it back to Boston.
