one of the things you can do for shields to save power is decrease the range using a BB so that only the side facing the enemy has shields extended. This can save you a lot of power and doesn't suffer from the charge time.

You don't even need bread boards. That you can do with just ACBs.

@@alfa-hf7lp yeah but BB is basically ACB stuff except a heck of a lot cheaper and more compact. it's worth the time. Ohm did a fantastic tutorial on it like 30 mins a piece

@@coffeezombie244 I totally agree. I always use BB. I often use it to maneuver my ships since the default AIs never seem to do what I want. Even if I don't a single BB can replace hundreds of ACBs. For anyone who finds it daunting I'd look at Ohm's tutorials and look at the new generic block setter node and simple use BB to replace all the ACBs. If you're the type who likes ACBs, BB should start to make sense after some trial and error. Don't use an ACB to close your steam valves, use the BB, don't use ACBs to turn shields on/off, use BB. I learned BB out of necessity after having to make a room to store/protect 30+ ACBs and realized it was getting impractical.

fun fact, if by any chance you have acbs that is trying to turn on the shields and another trying to turn it off eventually the shield projectors will bug out. the ship will entirely glitch Fuel engines will stop to work, Shields gets unreal amount of temperature Ship will not turn its turrets but can still turn the gun. Ammo does not resupply if you shift p, the ship will stay in that form from when you exit out of build menu I haven't tested electric engines or steam engines if this happens the same as fuel engines that htey stop to work but damn . . . . I also made a ship that wants to fight ur draconia, it has less cost than the turtle lord by 200k and not as overkill as the turtlelord its a battleship edit: ONE MORE tip by shields you can press v to check out power settings you'll see that shields have priority settings, but the shields in their own menu doesn't if you put the shields that are more important like in the turrets first, you can set their priority settings so if your engines get weaker you can do this so this takes the priority and doesn't blink when the engine dies or weakens

That is so strange! Must be a big lol, well this setup should not cause that issue at least. Oh cool, does it cost around 1,8M materials, does it have 4 repairbots or less and is a surface ship? As always a really nice tutorial!! Very straight forward, i will try to implement some shields in an attack helicopter, to see how much imcreases it's protection. Thanks Gmodism, wanted to know about shields i was waiting for this tutorial haha.

Any tips on stacking shields? I tried layering a bunch of shields at different angles as per the tooltip, but despite multiple layers deflecting, the next deflection odds didn't noticably change. I used a 900 rpm 1002 mps cwis based on the Megalodon's cwis for my testing, but as I understand it, only impact angle and disruptor conduit heads are supposed to affect/change deflection chances of shields with a constant strength.

I always double stack my projection shields. Each shield is a dice roll, more dice rolls is a good thing, genrerally.

So to my knowledge only the first surface counts, you can't stack shields and get boosted performance other than redundancy, so stacked shields: spend your time on something else

The tooltip indicates that a roll is only made once for shields at the same angle of deflection, but doesn't indicate what happens when you have two or more at different angles. When I tried testing it, I only eyeballed the rough rate of deflections vs passthroughs, and didn't notice a significant difference between the total deflections from one shield and 8+ shields.

you can stack them, but make sure they're at different angles. Each shell only makes one roll to see if it bounces off of shields, so it may pass through one shield but get deflected by one that is at a sharper angle.
